The first listen is pretty tough but after 3-4 listens it's ok. A 7/10 album.

It's a 7 for sure. Good, but kinda repetitive, lo-fi almost to a genuine fault (and I have an extremely high tolerance for intentional low fidelity). Nice, ultimately a little too unremarkable.

"Slaughter of the Soul" - At The Gates
I haven't heard any of this stuff since high school. A couple of good friends of mine were big At The Gates fans. This is a lot better then I recall it being back then. Freaking intense, yet still melodic enough to keep my attention. If you're interested in death metal at all, this is a good place to start.

N.E.R.D.'s In Search Of... (The reissue.)
Picked this up from the library on a strong recommendation.
Ehh, it's OK. Not a style of music to which I am particularly friendly or accustomed, but it's passable enough thus far.

Queens of the Stone Age - Era VulgarisI'm giving this another shot. I heard it when it first came out over the summer and was disappointed (and I'm an huge QOTSA fan, which might be part of the problem). It's not as ferocious and more subdued and sludgy than their earlier stuff, but after hearing 3's&7's a bit on the radio I think I can warm up to it.

I like that whole album -- it's lingering around the outer realms of my current top 20 of this year -- but the song I find myself drawn to the most when I don't want to listen to the full disc is easily "Make It Wit Chu". *boogies*

I just finished listening to Disraeli Gears by Cream. I have not heard it for many years and it brought me way back in time. Jack Bruce was a masterful vocalist, imho.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's semi-self titled debut, and enjoying the hell out of it. Not terribly different from the other two full lengths I've heard from the band yet (Take Them On, On Your Own unt Baby 81) but very energetic and punky.
