'Shade And Honey' by Sparklehorse from their new record. Lovely, hypnotic alt-country noir. Can't wait for that album.

"How Did the Feeling Feel to You" by Karen Dalton from Mojo mag's latest cd, The Roots of Bob Dylan. Great song. Dalton's 1969 album is most definately worth seeking out.

"On the Earth" by Persephone's Bees off Notes From the Neighborhood. Great debut album that reminds me of Blondie, early Bangles and psychy-pop from late '60s or early '80s. I love the vocals from Angelina Moysov, they give off French pop vibes though she's Russian born and one song is song in Russian. Excellent stuff.

Game Theory by The Roots - Nowhere near the schizo-genius of Phrenology but still good.

"A South Bronx Story" -- E.S.G. A fabulous Soul Jazz collection of the best of this legendary early no-wave/punk-funk group. Hugely entertaining.

"The Sound of Your Voice" by The Come Ons from Stars. I'm still adjusting to the change of styles for this band. Once they were a garage rock band similiar to the Detroit Cobras. The newest release sounds like alternative rock, or indie pop at times. Oh well.

"Mort Tu As Navre" - Johannes Ockeghem. Dutch 15th century composer. This song was composed as a lamentation for the composer Binchois. It is so bloody beautiful. If you can, try to get your hands on a copy of La Capella Reial De Catalunya (Jordi Savall's group)'s record:
Alfons V el Magnum. It is supremely good. The song is on one of the two records which compromises the double album, but almost all songs are awesome.

"Piece Of Meat" by Young People With Faces from their s/t album. Four teenagers (three chicks and one dude) in a garage/punk rock band that kicks butt a la the Stooges & early Ramones. Much fun, excellent if you like this sort of stuff, and I do.
