Well I feel Badly Drawn Boy is great, but allot of people dont get the deal.

The thing that draws me to Elliott Smith is he has an uncanny way of making dispair and loneliness sound beautiful. I'd recommend listening to Either/Or instead of XO.

I agree with you on Badly Drawn Boy. Hour of Bewilderbeast, About a Boy, and Have You Fed the Fish are terrific. One Plus One is One is Okay. I got Born in the U.K. the day it came out, but it has never grabbed me. I hope Damon gets back to his early form soon.

The Decemberists...ah, most likely my favorite band, but I must admit "When The War Came" is dull. Other than that, their catalog is stellar.
The White Stripes...love them, love their sound, but I find a lot of their stuff to be filler for their 1 or 2 "hit songs", especially on their last two albums. "Get Behind Me Satan" is a vehicle to legitimize the awesomely amazing "Blue Orchid." "Icky Thump" (I am listening to it the first time around right now) is a little better, but it's still clear that the title track is the best track.
Now for three bands that I think have not put our a bad song. Ever.
1. The New Pornographers. All of their songs are pop gems. I've listened to each one of their albums at least 40 times. My favorite is probably "The Slow Descent into Alcoholism" - but all of their songs are not only decent, but all great.
2. The Arcade Fire. Same as above, but chilling and emotional gems. Their EP is a little less fantastic, but it's still very good.
3. The Shins. Oh, if only they recorded as fast as the White Stripes. I'm already waiting for their next album...
