"strange messengers" by patti smith. it's on the *gung ho* cd. she assumes the voice of an african slave indicting the present day black community. it's provocative as hell and very, very intense.

That reminds me, did anyone watch Conan O'brien about a week ago? They had this ridiculous fake musical group called The Slipnuts and Patti Smith was one of the artists who had a song on their "Tribute to the Slipnuts" album. Lol, Conan is so underrated.

One of the most intense songs is Johnny Cash's "Hurt", I was driving when I first heard it and I had to pull over because I started to cry.
You seen to be suffering from delusions of adequacy.

Yeah, that is a pretty intense song. It's strange how the lyrics tell a comletely different story through his voice then Reznors. I was strongly affected the first time I heard it also, although not enough to cry

Dead Kennedys - California Uber AllesSo intense your freakin temples will implode!!!!!
Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

"Nazi punks! Nazi punks! Nazi punks! F U!" I saw the DK back in the '80s. Man were they fun!

That is pretty awesome, kendo. I try to make it out to concerts when I can because you just don't know when will be the last chance to catch a band you love. The Dead Kennedy's would have been great to see live, but I was 3 years old when they split. I guess they're back together without Biafra now, but it's in no way the same.

It was quite the experience. Some skinhead types were throwing beer bottles at the band, and Jello Biafra came off of the stage and got into a fistfight with one of the guys. The bouncer pulled the group out, and the concert continued. It was the first time I saw stage diving, and one guy tried it from a balcony, with adverse consequences. I seem to remember that one of the opening bands was a DC hardcore favorite, Government Issue. I can't remember who else played. I took some very bewildered friends from school with me. One of them was a Deadhead. All in all a funny evening. Best shows I ever saw, though, were the Clash, Talking Heads and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

No offense but I'd only consider 1/2 of the songs posted in this topic to be truly "intense" or be worthy of it. I have a couple that you may be familiar with: Sigur Ros - Track 11 (from ()) UNKLE - Rabbit in your Headlights (feat. Thom Yorke) Arcade Fire - My Body is a Cage (their most intense yet) Those above songs build up so incredibly, and get so heartwrenching, that I almost cannot stand to listen to them (well, the first 2 anyway).

() only has 8 tracks, has there been a reissue I'm unaware of or something? Or a typo on your part? If it's a typo I'm upset as you've got me hoping there's more Sigur Ros out there that I've not heard.

The first track off Boredoms' Super Are CD. That song actually gets my heart racing; I don't remember any other song doing that.

Oh damn, I meant Track 7 then (it was the 2nd to last, for some reason I thought there were 12). You know which one I'm talking about? Also, am I weird for liking () more than their other 2 albums >_>
