Double Nickels on the Dime is an essential record, though daunting with the 42 tracks (all short, obviously). I had no idea "Corona" was the Jackass theme. That seems so... strange.
Australian independent releases from the late 70s/early 80s. Hopefully these have turned up on CD compilations since then.
1. “Premonition” - Manikins 2. No Word From China” - Pel Mel 3. “Do That Dance” - The Primitive Calculators 4. "Display/Response: Action” - The Thoughtcriminals 5. “Tael of a Saeghorse” - Makers of the Dead Travel Fast
1. “Long Blond Hair” - Crackajacks 2. “Recognition” - The Dots (Paul Kelly’s first band - when he had hair!) 3. “Sunset Strip” - The Riptides 4. “I Dig The Rain” - The Worms 5. “Hindu Gods of Love” - Lipstick Killers
1. “Cigarettes and Alcohol” - The Fucken Leftovers 2. “She’s Got the Money” - Young Modern 3. “Hit Single” - Bleeding Hearts 4. “Hangin’ Round the House” - Pete Lilley and the Leisuremasters 5. "Average Inadequacy” - Machinations
The Autumn Project - The Buffalo vs. the bottomless cliff (an underrated post-rock band. You want to know what is thrue unconfortable, autumnal post-rock? Listen to that song. Made by intelligent people.)
Donovan - Isle of Islay (pure guitar-vocal folk, one of the best folk song ever, really. If you always cry when listening to "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, listen to that song.
Sigur Ros - Olsen Olsen (That's what Sigur Ros should be more. Great bass, great drums, great vocals... a perfect song.
cLOUDDEAD - Physics of a unicycle (listen CAREFULLY from the START TO THE END,this is hip-hop music at its best. The only group (with Themselves) that make depressive rap music.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Antennas to heaven (the last minutes of CD 2 on Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven!) (It makes you feel that you are nothing, a microscopic form of life into an infinite univers. That's what I love with Godspeed: They see clearly the thrue: life is a total mess.......
The Autumn Project - The Buffalo vs. the bottomless cliff (an underrated post-rock band. You want to know what is thrue unconfortable, autumnal post-rock? Listen to that song. Made by intelligent people.)
This is a good song from a good album. I'm glad you turned me on to these guys a while back, Tweedy. It's some of the best post-rock I've heard.

1. The Glow - Microphones - Everyone raves about Glow Pt. 2, but this song off of It Was Hot We Stayed in the Water is just as amazing if not more so. Just a beautiful song with amazing warm harmonies.
2. Mogwai Fear Satan - Mogwai - Brilliant song from Young Team. Its angry and gentle at the same time. Must own for any post rock fans.
3. Child Star - The Unicorns - The Unicorns at their goofiest, and at the same time the best song on the album. It makes me sing along every time.
4. Scream Team - Deerhoof - Amazing song from Runners Four. They absolutely explode on this song. They may be the best band out there today. They are talented as shit to pull this off.
5. Red Sea - Asobi Seksu - If you have even a passing interest in shoegaze, this is a must hear. The wall of sound wash of noise in this song is EASILY as good as anything on Loveless. On top of that, its a gorgeous song and the best on one of the best albums this year.
You know, after listening to Young Team again, I think it's Mogwai's worst album. By quite a bit. Give me Happy Songs For Happy People anyday over that.

1. Thee More Shallows - "2am" - The best xylophone based song I've ever heard. I couldn't stop listening to this song for a couple months when I first heard it, it's really creepy.
2. The Microphones - "The Moon/Moon Sequel" - This is a live song with just Phil Elvrerum as Mount Eerie, and it's available on the mount eerie fansite. He plays The Moon, one of his best songs ever, and he adds a "sequel" to the story told by the original song in which he screams and curses and wails and is almost crying by the end. It's the most genuine emotion I've ever heard put into a song.
3. Animal Collective - "People/Fickle Cycle/Grass" - At one point, they mixed these 3 songs into one 14 minute one, before they were actual songs. I think it's the best thing they've done.
4. Why? - "Fall Saddles" - Elephant Eyelash was one of my favorite albums last year, but it got little recognition. The whole album is addictive and innovative pop, this song is a good example.
5. Xiu Xiu - "Clowne Towne" - This song is amazing. It starts with beans shaking in tin cans or something and then strings come in and it dies down to a beautiful little acoustic tune with a bombastic chorus.
1. Is nothing sacred- Meat Loaf 2-White Hare-Seth Lakeman 3. Give me one reason-Eric Clapton and Tracey Chapman (live unplugged..) 4. i wish-Babyshambles 5. Lost in america- Alice Cooper

I have a deep, uncontrollable, burning hatred for four of these songs. Do you want to torture people? Is that what this is? You're cruel, joji. Do your hobbies also include drowning sacks of puppies and socializing healthcare?
