There is no definition, and there should never one. Music already has enough labels and categories that give the ear a "predetermined bent." The joy of just listneing to musica and letting the music do it work apart from imposed judgements is already suffering. God help us never create a "gold standard."
1. Anything played on mainstream radio is shit, and is not "good music" 2. The more obscure the band, the better the music 3. Rules one and two may be suspended for certain albums that are over 25 years old. 4. If the album doesn't have some acclaim from Pitchfork, Popmatters, etc., it really isn't as good as you thought it was. 5. Your musical taste (though it may need to be refined through rule 3) really is the gold standard. Anyone that does not agree with you is obviously lacking.
Even though this is all sarcasm, I do see some truth in this, even though it is just my perception on some things that I have read, and may not represent the poster's intention.
Um... why are there three pages to this discussion even though pages 2 and 3 are blank? Is that supposed to be some sort of premonition about this discussion in that it would all be empty space anyways.
