crazed: they played at the touch and go 25th/hideout 10th block party last year with big black and others...
Glad to hear MOAM is still at it. Wish they'd record & release something soon.
Man or Astroman? is one of my favorite live bands of all-time-- I haven't seen 'em since 2000 or so, I hope to again.
One band that comes to mind is Moods for Moderns. They put out one near-great slice of Power Pop called Loud & Clear on Doghouse Records in 2001. A little out of step, I guess, as the rest of the world was fascinated with the retro-post-punk bands at the time. Still, I'd like to know what happened to them.

What if Obama gets into White House and turns out to be some crazy muslim terrorist? What do we do then? We'll be pretty screwed. It could happen." -- by some fucking nutjob
Um, those guys became somebody. I think the Strokes?

I'd say the Distractions. They released one TERRIFIC album in 1980 and then disappeared. I may be the only one, except for hal, to have heard Nobody's Perfect and their single though, so I doubt that anybody else cares.
"Naked Woman, Naked Man Where did you get that nice sun tan?"
There's a band named Rock of Travolta that put out one amazing mostly instrumental album and another awesome entirely instrumental EP, but they haven't done anything since 2003 and I can't figure out if they've disbanded or what. They've just disappeared I guess.
Bevis Frond. Nick Saloman's band (Nick and whoever he picks to accompany him) last struck with Hit Squad in '04. Okay, only 3 years but the Frond was pretty prolific from '99 to '04. I know Nick is compiling various artists series of garage, psych and prog collections but I haven't heard if the Frond is on hold or what. Supposedly he has just as much if not more unreleased songs in the vault than Neil Young. But no Frond in 3 years counting- what's a Frond fanatic to do?
The Sunshine Club were a terrific band from a decade ago that put out two albums and then poretty much vanished. I didn't actually get either of their cd's til after the fact though and it's really a shame they didn't stick around. I haven't even heard of any of them going on to anything else either
more than a decde ago there was a band from Portland called Thirty Ought Six that also put out two albums before vanishing. I did see them a couple times and thought they were amazing. They're another group though that I don't think has even morphed into something else, just kind of disappeared (even their wikipedia entry got deleted!)
there's a bunch of others that I always worry will end up forgotten outside of a few mosic obsessives, hopefully there are enough of us to keep them alive
Usually, if you look on Wikipedia, and there's an article on the band you're looking for, it'll tell you if they're on hiatus, or if they've broken up, or any recent activity.
These guys are back together, touring and even playing at Lollapalooza this year.
I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.
