Just curious. I see their name around a lot (maybe not just in this topic) and I've tried to listen to a couple of their cds and didn't do very well. Maybe I'm just ADD. I hope I'm not a snob for not liking Spoon...I'm sure they're nice guys.

Don't feel too bad Sicnarf. I don't like Spoon either and I've heard all of their albums. Everyone I work with seems to love them so I've had to sit through all of them plenty of times.

my mistake on crooked rain and mermaid avenue. i'll correct that. as far as avalanche vs. illinois, i genuinely believe it is a better album. 'dear mr. supercomuter', 'henney buggy band'', 'mistress witch of mcclure' and 'bobby got a shadfly caught in his hair', are in my opinion, better than anything on illinois.

How much can you possibly like this one?

Based on the other picks in the list, I'd guess quite a bit.

Edit: ...although I guess it would help to actually get the album title right. It's The Creek Drank the Cradle.

I think that was his point

edit:
And here's an unordered top 10 without spending too much time thinking about it...
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People
Beck - Sea Change
Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Hearts of Oak
White Stripes - White Blood Cells

To be honest I probably have listened to less 2000's music than any other decade, so my list is based off a very limited amount of albums.

In no order:

Fugazi, The Argument
Tom Waits, Alice
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus
Super Furry Animals, Rings Around the World
The Hold Steady, Separation Sunday
The Streets, A Grand Don't Come for Free
The White Stripes, Elephant
Spoon, Kill the Moonlight
Ryan Adams, Heartbreaker
David Thomas Broughton, The Complete Guide to Inefficiency

Based on what I can remember, and what I have here at work. I'm sure something escaped my attention. (I swear I've made one of these lists before—I wonder how different this one is.)

...and I'm suppose to take this from someone who votes two Tea Party albums and a Dishwalla album in their 'greatest albums of this decade so far' list.

I don't normally, in fact I never do, slag others for their tastes in music but P-Bo, who seems more concerned about slagging other posters here more than anything else, sort of needs some dish(walla)'in back to.

I meant the Crank Drank The Cradle.

I prefer The Crack Spanked the Table. Aluminum and Beer is my favorite band.
