What are your 5 favorite songs of the last 5 years? They don't have to be your favorite at this moment, but just songs that you have really loved over the last 5 years. It may seem a cop out to have Hey Ya and Crazy (since they were so popular), but I really believe these are 2 of the best 5 songs of the last 5 years.

My list (in chronological order)
1. Hey Ya-Outkast
2. Hope there's someone-Antony and the Johnsons
3. Wordless Chorus-My Morning Jacket
4. Crazy-Gnarls Barkley
5. Roscoe-Midlake

Just to make it easier for me, I'll do one song per year:

2006: Knife - "Silent Shout"
2005: Elephant Micah - "Hawaii and the Derby Day"
2004: Jason Molina - "Long Desert Train"
2003: Sun Kil Moon - "Duk Koo Kim"
2002: Notwist - "Pick Up the Phone"

It's sort of impossible to do this though really.

Tough to do, but teaches me new music. Haven't heard Elephant Micah song so I'll check it out right now. What's great about these best song lists is that I always learn (and usually like) new songs.

Narrowing down to five songs is tough. I'll do it by year too, just to make things a bit more structured:

2002: "How Near, How Far" - ...And You Will Know Us by The Trail of Dead (Source Tags & Codes)
2003: "One Big Holiday" - My Morning Jacket (It Still Moves)
2004: "Diabolic Scheme" - The Hives (Tyrannosaurus Hives)
2005: "We Built Another World" - Wolf Parade (Apologies to the Queen Mary)
2006: "Wolf Like Me" - TV on the Radio (Return to Cookie Mountain)

This album is so good I couldn't complain about any song from that album. Personal favorite is St. Rosa and the Swallows, but all good.

I know, fantastic album all around. It was either Ear for Baby or Returning to the Fold (which I'm going to listen to right now...) My favorite part is that opener "I regret leaving my SOOOOUUUUULLL!!" Goddamn, I'm listening to it right now, so good.
