I love the Woman King EP, too, but I prefer Iron & Wine's full-length discs. I'd put "Bird Stealing Bread," "The Trapeeze Swinger," and "Weary Memory" at Nos. 1 -- 3. And I completely agree with RL that "Sodom, South Georgia" in my Top 10. But I'm always thrilled to find others who appreciates an artist that I like. And I consider Sam Beam a real artist.

I think Trapeze Swinger wasn't on any of the EP's. I just heard it off the "In Good Company" soundtrack.

I don't have it. I've heard a few songs from it, and yeah, they sound pretty damn good ("Blanket and Crib" especially), but I sort of limit myself to things I actually own in these sorts of threads.

Looking over that list of mine, it's interesting just how many lightyears better Black Sheep Boy is than Don't Fall in Love..., which was a good album anyway. I'm pretty expecting anything that Sheff releases from now on to be killer.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard Shearwater? If so, what's it like?

The first Shearwater was pretty poor if you ask me. But the second one, Winged Life, as well as the following EP, Thieves, were both quite good. On those two releases, the songwriting and singing duties were shared between Will Sheff and Jonathon Meiburg. I prefer Sheff's songs, but some of Meiburg's were good too. The latest album was written entirely by Meiburg, and it got pretty good reviews. I can't stand it though. It just seemse really dull and boring to me. And without Sheff's voice, Meiburg's silky smooth and somewhat affected sounding vocals kind of wore on my ears.
