3 Posts up..Duncan Black. Everything you wrote is spot on. Great contribution.
Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been, Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene; As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be, So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.
i think it is a bad thing and im not afraid to say it. now 50 times more conversations will go like this.
-what kind of music are you into -blah, blah, modest mouse, blah -oh you like modest mouse? which album/songs are your favorites? -well, i like float on, and they only have 1 album i thought

Now this is where you could either be a "dick" and roll your eyes at the person and dismiss him/her as a poseur or you could be "cool" by making him a playlist of your favorite MM songs or better yet a playlist of other bands he/she might like.

"This is my main concern with Obama; what if he has been groomed since childhood to blend in with the zionists and infidels? What if he has been led along by a radical islamic terrorist organization and positioned to become an influential politician?
What if Obama gets into White House and turns out to be some crazy muslim terrorist? What do we do then? We'll be pretty screwed. It could happen." -- by some fucking nutjob
people dont listen to that kind of thing. believe me, i went through the "make playlists for people" stage, and it never worked. at best, they listen through it once, and decide they still only like the one radio friendly song. i mean sure, i always encourage them to look further into modest mouse's collection, but i dont know many people who actually would. there are those who actively try to find new music, and there are those who wait and let it come to them passively.

yup yup yup.
i also agree whole-heartedly with Duncan Black's indie rant. the logic is there, and it's quite obvious.
i think it's great when indie/unknowns make it big. It's what they want or else they wouldn't have gone along with it, so I am happy for them. It's silly to not to want success for someone because you want to keep them secret and all to yourself. Everyone should hear great music.
