Crazy Frog song. The fact that song was #1 for god knows how many weeks makes my eyes water.

In all seriousness though, I'll have to say Casimir Pulasky Day by Sufjan Stevens and Hope There's Someone by Antony and the Johnsons.

Uh, none.

But maybe if I was feeling in the mood for lots of Prozac, these songs might have potential...

Angeles - Elliott Smith
Which Way - Nick Drake
Svefn G Englar - Sigur Ros
John Wayne Gacy, Jr - Sufjan Stevens

The less you know the better!

This may seem a little odd to most of you but one song that always makes me cry is Puff the Magic Dragon. Very sad song about growing old and loosing your innocence.

Oh, it's my good friend Crazy Frog. Eeker My 2-1/2 year old son (who has a frog obsession) LOVES that song and goes completely bonkers if I pick him up and dance around with him as it plays! Smiler

"You and I" by Stevie Wonder. It was on a tape I made for my wife, and then it was our first dance as husband and wife. I actively try not to listen to Talking Book, so I can avoid that song. It makes me weep.
Some others:
"Kiss Me Idle"-The Verve Pipe
"Oh, Comely"-Neutral Milk Hotel
"My Own Old Song"-Witness
"Before the Calm"-Witness
"Belong"-Brian VanderArk
"Astral Weeks"-Van Morrison (pretty much the whole album)
"Hush"-Jellyfish

Is that song a cover or something? It seems like I've heard it before, only without the crazy frog.

The Crazy Frog always moves me to the tears as well. Something about the unique timbre of his voice. Why, that fucker could sing the phonebook and I'd well up like a teenage girl dumped on prom night Eeker .
Or, for that matter, the old lady down the hall if El Presidente finally kicks the bucket... Big Grin

Pardon the repeats:

Arcade Fire-Tunnels
Radiohead-True Love Waits
Bob Dylan-Mississippi and Not Dark Yet
Wolf Parade-I'll Believe in Anything and This Heart's on Fire (not your typical tearjerker, but listen to the entire album, then let the last verse hit you in the gut)
Wilco-Poor Places
Eels-(live) Girl from the North Country... love Dylan, but I like this one better
John Lennon-Beautiful Boy (makes me think of my 2 year old son)

Loudon Wainwright III - Hitting You

Cheers.

Jumpin', Dylan wrote the song about him. Blind Willie McTell (born William Samuel McTell in 1901) hailed from the town of Thomson, Georgia. He lost his eyesight in late childhood.

Best known song is probably "Statesboro Blues", the best known version of which is probably that of the Allman Brothers.

Pretty much anything by Antony and The Johnsons. His a six foot tall confused awkward angel whose voice, subject matter and child like hopefulness is just so beautifully tragic it almost alway brings me to tears.

You seem to be suffering form delusions of adequacy.

Besides "Tony" by Diamanda Galas and "Wish you Were Here" by PInk Floyd... I'd have to say that a classic tear jerker is "For All we Know" by a couple dozen artists since god was young... most recent, and hella decent is by the Noisettes....

You can hear it at the end of the current weekly podcast that I do.

Hang in there for the tear jerker.

Dashboard Confessional could perish in a
plane over the Everglades, get eaten by alligators,
thrown up by alligators and, have their vomited corpses crapped
on by a hepatitis infected Nick Nolte look a like, and I
wouldn't care enough to even be on the sidelines
cheering.
