Wow this is tough because there are so many songs. I would really have to say it is "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys--a song that is simply one of the best five songs of all time--in my opinion.
The Mr. T Experience - Even Hitler Had A Girlfriend
(following lyric: so why can't I?)
:P
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.
My wife and I's song is "Wear You Out" by TV on the Radio
But really, I don't listen to enough romantic music for us to even really have a song. We like some of the same stuff, but she's more into classic rock like AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica, etc.
Most recent Girlfriend was Stay With You - Lemonjelly. Breezy summer disco-pop.
Previous Girlfriend - Inside and Out - Feist. Perfect.
Previous Girlfriend - Someday Some Morning Sometime - Wilco. Off Mermaid II. Amazing song.
I do have one other song, but it's a closely guarded secret. I'll be dancing to it with Mrs. Right (no that's not my last name ) at my wedding. I have a tough time even letting your peeps in on the secret.
Ex Boyfriend - Saliva "Rest In Pieces" Sure it's about breaking up (which was true enough in my situation) but the cd was playing in his car one day when he picked me up. I heard this song and asked what it was, from then on, it was "our" song. I hear it now and still remember
Past girlfriend #1: "I Go Crazy" Flesh for Lulu. Lovely Aussie thing with a penchant for vegemite, one of the worst foods I've ever tasted.
Past girlfriend #2: "Sweet Thing" The Waterboys and "Sweet Soul Dream" World Party. Sweet girl. Always smelled of Chanel and citrus hair conditioner.
Past girlfriend #3: "Temple of Love" and "Body and Soul" Sisters of Mercy. Freaky goth chick. I can still smell the clove cigarettes and see the fishnet stockings. First person I knew to get anything other than an ear pierced. By the time we broke up, she had more jewelry in her than an old lady's bureau drawer.
Past girlfriend #4: "Here Comes Your Man" The Pixies. Stoner chick, played guitar and read existentialism. Cool, laid-back, and kind of boring. Had nothing to say about anything.
My wife and I used "In My Life" by the Beatles as our first dance wedding song.
Jeez. Rattling through that list (those were just the ones who came to mind) reminds me of two of my fave songs, 88 Lines About 44 Women by the Nails and And a Bang on the Ear by the Waterboys, both tales of past loves. Nostalgia's a funny thing.
M Leland - ditto re Nick's 'into my arms'. Also Nick's 'ship song' remains at the very top alongside Mama cass' "dream a little dream' and sinatra's 'my heart stood still.'. Other lovefests include arcade fire's 'neighborhood #1 (tunnels)' and 'crown of thorns', bright eyes' "first day of my life", Dusty's 'This girl's in love with you', Ben Fold's 'The Luckiest', David Byrne's "She only sleeps with me', doves' 'fugitive motel', and last but definitely not least, spoon's 'I summon you'.
interesting.....does this question assume everyone on the list is male and straight? hmmmm. anyway.......a good "girlfriend/boyfriend" song is MC Lyte's "fuck that motherfuckin' bullshit."
very funny for the light moments in your relationship.
