Shouldn't this be in the General Music section? Just asking...
I'm most likely going to be getting the Magnolia Electric Company boxset Sojourner. I really like the few songs I've heard, and I love Jason Molina's voice.
Other than that, I'm not too sure. Maybe some of those Can albums I've been looking to buy. Those are always so expensive - I can never find a decent deal for a used one. Better to let someone else buy them for me, right? Might also be picking some more David Bowie's 70s stuff that I don't have. Station to Station, "Heroes" or Aladdin Sane.
All three of those Bowie albums are pretty darn good, "Heroes" being my personal favorite of the three.
And yeah, Can records are hard to find. My friend's a huge fan of theirs and one of his goals in life is to find their discography... and to be able to afford it.

Okay.
I'm thinking about the definitely-not-indie Rockin' Bones: 1950s Punk and Rockabilly box set. It's been released well over a year now and I still haven't picked it up.
There's always some great box set at year's end, haven't explored what's coming out yet.
The Mount Eerie photo book & 10" entitled Mount Eerie pts. 6 & 7 looks very nice. Still, it's pretty expensive.
All the people who buy me gifts have no idea what I like, so I just ask for books, video games, and gift cards.
People I'm looking to expand my library most for this Christmas are:
David Bowie Nick Drake Tom Waits
Also a bunch of those random indie one-album wonders that always appear on lists that I've never heard, and probably a few of the punk banks from the late 70's I'm not familiar with.
Doc note, I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness! I diet on cod.
what do you mean by that skytweedy? id consider wilco a typical indie taste...
i don't only listen to Wilco.....
you aren't fooling anybody skytweedy. i bet you're listening to wilco riiiiiiight now. i bet you get the shakes if you're not listening to wilco for more than a 10 minute period.
in more serious news, i'm still hoping that ryan adams' fucking huge box-set makes an appearance some time before christmas. i don't have much hope yet, as i've not heard anything about it for some time. in addition to that, i've got the national's boxer and alligator, the rolling stones' beggar's banquet, wilco's sky blue sky (yeah, i get the shakes sometimes too, skytweedy...), wolf parade's apologies to the queen mary, liars' drums not dead and liars on the list... oh! and super mario galaxy. i've been waiting a long time to kill turtles in space.
My Christmas list are the 7 pages of CDs I want. I'm not going to post it because I don't think anyone will want to read it, lol. Plus I pefer to buy my own CD's because I do it online and it's much cheaper than from the store.

If you like Bowie's Berlin stuff ( Low, Heroes, Lodger ), you should definitely check out a couple other related albums:
Lou Reed - Street Hassle (it should be relatively easy to find a cheap vinyl copy, and it's great!), Berlin Iggy Pop - the Idiot, Lust for Life
If this is old news, my apologies. I could listen to all of those albums back to back all day and be happy ('cept for Berlin, cos it's brutal to listen to emotionally vs. Metal Machine Music ).
The Soundtrack to I'm Not There Sea Wolf- Leaves in The River Cease To Begin- Band Of Horses Rilo Kiley- More Adventurous I'll probably have more, but these are what i can think of so far.

I heartily recommend the Rockin' Bones set. There are a few standards here ("Rumble" "Blue Suede Shoes" etc.), but most of the stuff is by largely unknown artists. Well, they were unknown to me at least.
My box set of choice is the newest addition to the Nuggets series: "Love is the Song We Sing".
