In an attempt to start a vinyl collection:

Blondie - Parallel Lines
Bruce Springsteen - The River
Neil Young - Time Fades Away (nice find for $2)
Ultravox - Vienna

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

Mix a little folly with your plans: It is sweet to be silly at the right moment.

Can I ask you guys a question? I don't want to start a new thread but wanted to know how you stored your vinyl. Do you keep it on bookshelves, boxes, or what?

I've been wanting to buy a record player for some time now, but don't know how I want to store/showcase my records.

Sadly, Mine are stored on a shelf in my closet. My room is quite small. There's literally no room for them. I plan to MAKE room one way or another. When I get a bigger collection, that is.

I have that same issue and like MJ88, I also keep mine on a shelf in the closet. They are so big and bulky that it is hard to put them anywhere else. Then again, their size is what makes them such collectible novelties.

I would love to buy some nice shelves to show them off but my room is way too small. I look forward to when I get my own house; I can build something nice to showcase them because they really should be shown off.

That would be my problem as well. I live in an apartment so I can't build anything permanent. Boxes will have to do.

In response to those looking to store your records... I found at IKEA, these wood crates you buy flat and build(takes 2 minutes) in black, and records fit perfectly in them. They have two holes(handles) to grab for easy pickup.Fits about 60-70 records. I'm going back to buy a couple more. There are also these clear plastic crates with handles, but i don't like the way they look, the black painted wood looks good and can just put on the floor by your stereo equip for easy access or place on side table.....

In the mail today:

Talking Heads - Fear of Music

The sleeve was in horrendous condition, but the record itself looked great.

V/A Brazilian Surf A-Go-Go

Great new collection- first in a series- of South American surf instrumentals. Only a few artists on this comp that I'd previously heard.
