Two years ago I was in California and we went to the Amoeba store in San Francisco. This was the most records I have ever seen in my whole life. I also loved how they were organized by genre and alphabetized and everything. It was amazing.
That's also where I got my vinyl copy of Radiohead's OK Computer. At the time it was very expensive but that didn't matter. I am so glad I bought it though because I have been looking for some of their other albums on vinyl and I have come to find out that they are very hard to come by.

Some collectors think that these'll be worth serious money in time. Glad I picked up Kid A when I did.

wasn't there a thread discussing vinyl players? i've been searching for it all evening and can't find it. i'm thinking about buying one this weekend and would like to see what people said. if anyone can find it for me i'd greatly appreciate it

Not sure if this the discussion you were thinking about, but I found a short thread on turntables here.
My latest vinyl find is V/A Waking Up Scheherazade: Arabian Psych Nuggets. Great package of extremely rare Mid-East psychedelia, and many of the tracks seem to originate from Lebanon. Ultra cool LP cover and a psychedelic swirl colored vinyl disc!
Velvet Underground - VU & Nico Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon John Coltrane - Love Supreme Charlie Parker - Live at the Roost, The Savoy Years, Complete Royal Roost Performances, Vol. One Charlie Parker - Bird and Diz, Volume 2

Robert Wyatt - Shipbuilding Elephant Micah - Home Of Astronauts Palace Brothers - Ohio River Boat Song
Today I went to the instore Black Lips performance at Twist & Shout in Denver. It was grand, even though the guys played without amps and the drummer only played his snare duct taped to a stool with a tambourine. then of course I had to buy a couple records...
Charlie Parker - The Master 2xLP anthology
Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band - Ice Cream for Crow
The Return of the Funk Soul Sisters
Then we proceeded to Wax Trax, which is where I lost my shit:
the Unicorns - Who will cut our hair when we're gone? beautiful pink vinyl! Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary The Cure - Disintegration !!! - Me & Giuliani Down by the Schoolyard Prince - Sign o the Times Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden Booker T. & the MGs - Soul Dressing Buggles - the Age of Plastic Slade - Sladest ($3, which should be worth it for Cum on Feel the Noize alone)

How does this one sound? I recently really got into that album on CD, I bet it sounds great on vinyl.
Some recent additions:
J Dilla - Donuts
It sounds good, although I'm probably not the best judge yet cos I really need a new turntable. The dinky little unit I've got now skips like a 6 yr old girl playing hopscotch. But it's sweet nonetheless.
And about Donuts - I got that on CD, but I probably should have held off for a vinyl copy. I luuuuuv that album.

Yeah, I love that album as well; it's rich and full of energy. I already had it on CD as well but that didn't stop me from getting it on vinyl. Often, even if I have some stuff on CD, I will buy it on vinyl if I really like (this happens a lot.)
I went to a new record store that my friend showed me where I got these great finds:
The Beach Boys - Sunflower Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill Steely Dan - The Royal Scam Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food Walt Disney's Fantasia, Leopold Stokowski with The Philadelphia Orchestra (This one is especially special. It's 3 LPs with artwork from the film and detailed stories about the compositions. A true collector's item.)
Passport's Cross Collateral. Their 1975 album and often considered their best release. German jazz-prog-funk. Picked up a used copy at the Indianapolis record collectors convention today.
