Yes! So I am not the only one.

I've been thinking of buying a record player soon. If I do, this will be the first record I'll buy. The packaging is supposed to be off the chain.

I'm a sucker for the 10" vinyl format, and I bought two today:

The Continentals - Fizz Pop (Modern Rock) [Epic, 1980]

Bettie Serveert - Crutches [Matador, 1995]

I've always loved Bettie Serveert, but had never seen this one. The cover of the Continentals intrigued me. After doing some searching on the interweb, I didn't find out much about them. "Fizz Pop" shows up on some 'New Wave' comps and is pretty damn catchy-- file under Power Pop. I did find a free download for all four songs on the EP here:

Earful of Noize

My cover doesn't look like that. Mine looks like this:

Fizz Pop

I've listened to it a few times, and it sounds really good. I've only recently begun to listen to jazz, and Miles has really stuck out of the pack. I love his music.

Deceit - This Heat
Pink Flag - Wire

Founds these really cheap at Amoeba, and they'd been reccomended to me. I've really enjoyed them both, though Deceit sounds especially good.

Just found out about a great new place to buy vinyl here. They don’t have anything that would be considered “a lot” but they have the most indie, jazz and rock records I have seen here. They are also the only ones that order and carry new vinyl. All the other places in town only have used stuff. Anyways, I got the following there:

Sunset Rubdown – Random Spirit Lover
Beirut – The Flying Club Cup

I hardly ever buy anything but 12" singles on vinyl, and then only if the good mixes are not out on cd. I notice that the prices are extremely variable. At Virgin I saw We Are The Pipettes for $13 with a code enclosed to download the album for free. Right next to that was the The Decemberists - The Crane Wife for $51.

When I read that, I actually felt my face turn green with jealousy. Dare I ask, original or reissue?

Deceit was a reissue (and only $17!), but Pink Flag is an original, and dirt cheap at $12.

I love Amoeba.
