Well, We have a "Recent CD Purchases" thread.

Why not a "Recent Vinyl Purchases" Thread?

Sure, we have a couple threads in here discussing vinyl, but not much talk about LP's we've bought/found.

Anyways...
I've just gotten into record collecting (& listening) the past 6 months.

I buy one or two (maybe three) records any time I stop in at a record store.

Which has led me to have only about 30 LP's.
But hey, it's a start!

My Recent Purchases:

David Bowie - Hunky Dory.
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures.
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables.
Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express.
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
The Blood Brothers - Crimes.

What are your recent purchases?

Thanks for starting this thread. I hope people list their purchases. I would also like to get into buying vinyl, but have not done so yet. It would be great to see what everyone is buying.

In the last month or so I've purchased both

Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days
and
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People

I'm hoping that I'll find Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarcitca on vinyl pretty soon. The original cover and tracks. With the hands...

The last thing I bought was Of Montreal’s 2007 album at their live show last month. I have already heard it a lot of times and it sounds fantastic. Sadly, I just realized today that I need to replace the stylus on my record player and I need to fix it soon so I can hear the discbox whenever it shows.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

I picked up both in local record shops. The Mt Eerie may be the easiest to find. The cd version of the album is included with the vinyl. I imagine you could order it from Mt Eerie's site. God in the Garage would more likely be a special order at a record shop or online site that sells LPs and/or garage music.

I don't have a record player but I accidentally ordered Sunset Rubdown's Random Spirit Lover on vinyl. (Yes I am an idiot). I COULD get a record player but I think I should just give it away...

Thanks, good ideas. I'll be checking on those sometime over break.

Jungle Exotica Picked this up in Indianapolis. A v/a collection of jungle-themed exotic lounge, rock & R&B from the late '50s to early '60s. Another outstanding release from Crypt records whose "Back from the Grave" garage/psych series shouldn't be missed.

I've been spending the morning filing away all the stuff I bought in 2007-- I generally like to keep a 'new to me' section so that I don't lose track of anything. I thought I might post the stuff I bought on vinyl this year, since it really wasn't very much, which can be attributed to two factors. This was my first full year NOT working in a record store and moving all my stuff last summer from Knoxville to Chattanooga probably kept me from buying more Big Grin

Dolorean - Violence in the Snowy Field (2004) and You Can't Win (2007)

Robyn Hitchcock - Ole! Tarantula (2006) [Best record of 2006 that I missed last year by the way.]

The Sadies - Tales of the Rat Fink Original Soundtrack (2006)

Beat Happening - Beat Happening EP (Can't find any info about this 3-song 12"; track listing - Side A: "Red Head Walking" Side B: "Revolution Com and Gone" and "Secret Picnic Time"; released on Sub Pop Records.)

Misunderstood - The Lost Acetates: 1965-1966 (2004)

Mink DeVille - Cabretta (1977) and Le Chat Bleu (1980)

Shellac - Excellent Italian Greyhound (2007) [I'll admit, I only listened to this once, so it did not register in my top picks for '07 Frowner)

Okkervil River - The Stage Names (2007)

Electrelane - No Shouts, No Calls (2007)

Shearwater - Palo Santo Expanded Edition 2XLP (2007)

Artful Dodger - Babes on Broadway (1977)

Daryl Hall & John Oates - No Goodbyes (1972) [When the hell are they going to reissue their Atlantic recordings on CD!!!)

Greg Kihn - Rockihnroll (1981) [These pre-"Jeopardy" Berserkley Records are in desperate need of reissuing as well.)

Utopia - Oops! Wrong Planet (1977) and Oblivion (1984)

Pete Townshend - Who Came First (1972) [Wow! I'll admit as big a Who fan as I have become over the last decade or so, I had never heard this STUNNING album, it was reissued on CD in Japan this year, so hopefully it will be available at a reasonable cost over here soon.)

The Associates - Perhaps (1985) [A band I had never heard of until this year. I think they came up a couple of times in the 80's thread. This is probably not the best one to start with, but not bad for two bucks.)

Paul Kelly and the Messengers - Gossip (1987) [Thanks for the Recommendation Little Limbless Ruby or whatever your handle is these days!)
