even though someone just mentioned im going to have to go with the soft bulletin
1)Feeling Yourself Disintegrate 2)Race for the Prize (remix) 3)Waiting for Superman 4)A Spoonful ways A Ton 5)The Observer 6)The Spark that Bled 7)The Gash 8)The Spiderbite Song 9)Sleeping on the Roof 10)What is the Light 11)Suddenly everything has Changed 12)Buggin'
I only put one version of both, "race for the Prize" and "Waitin for Superman" seeing how the remixes are very similar, i just choose the one that i thought was stronger
Failure's Fantastic Planet (yes it's one of my favorites) :

Hi! I made a few lists of my own, didn't see these ones mentioned.
Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix
1. Don't Look Back (10) 2. Going Places (10) 3. Neil Jung (10) 4. Discolite (10) 5. Sparky's Dream (10) 6. Tears (10) 7. About You (9) 8. I'll Make It Clear (9) 9. Hardcore/Ballad (9) 10. Mellow Doubt (9) 11. Say No (9) 12. I Gotta Know (9) 13. Verisimilitude (9)
Splitsville - The Complete Pet Soul
1. Tuesday Through Saturday (10) 2. Pretty People (9) 3. Caroline Knows (9) 4. The Popular (9) 5. Forever (9) 6. You Ought To Know (8) 7. I'll Never Fall In Love Again (8) 8. Aliceanna (8) 9. The Love Songs Of B. Douglas Wilson (8) 10. Sunshiny Daydream (7) I didn't count the overture which is beautiful by the way.
It was actually pretty hard to assign the numbers, but I tried to go with the formula that a 10 is a perfect pop song and the rest accordingly. The others are not that accurate and could change whenever. But yeah I don't think I'll be giving ratings anymore, it's too much work blaah.
Welcome #37, it's always nice to see power pop fans show up around these parts. I haven't heard that Splitsville record, but I've got Repeater and love it dearly.

I think I would put Day of the Lords as my top choice, even though Disorder introduced me to Joy Division and is still a great choice. Lords is such a menacing a dark song though. I'd put Candidate last, and I Remember Nothing a lot higher. I love the sound of glass breaking in the intro.

no fatties, could you please delete or change your signature? The milkshake fad is annoying the crap out of me, but I'd managed to avoid seeing too much of it on this site.

I agree with your choice of album, but disagree with your rating of the songs:
1. Holland, 1945 2. Ghost 3. The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One 4. Oh Comely 5. The King of Carrot Flowers Pts. Two and Three 6. Communist Daughter 7. [untitled] 8. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea 9. The Fool 10. Two-Headed Boy 11. Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2
1. "Anthrax" 2. "Contract" 3. "Ether" 4. "I Found That Essence Rare" 5. "Damaged Goods" 6. "At Home He's A Tourist" 7. "5-45" 8. "Guns Before Butter" 9. "Return the Gift" 10. "Natural's Not In It" 11. "Not Great Men" 12. "Glass"
Tough album to rank. So many good tracks that something is going to get a lower place then it deserves (sorry, "Natural's Not In It").

Only a 6 for Can't You Hear Me Knocking? That's probably my favorite on the whole album. Oh well.
I haven't seen Tago Mago by Can done yet, so I'll give it a swing. 1. Halleluwah 2. Paperhouse 3. Aumgn 4. Mushroom 5. Peking O. 6. Bring Me Coffee Or Tea 7. Oh Yeah
Only the top two are definitive, the other five move around every time I listen. Still, every track is amazing, so they're all very close.
1. "Roll Another Number (For the Road)" 2. "Tired Eyes" 3. "Albuquerque" 4. "Mellow My Mind" 5. "World on a String" 6. "Lookout Joe" 7. "Come On Baby Let's Go Downtown" 8. "Tonight's the Night" (pt. 1 & 2) 9. "Speakin' Out" 10. "New Mama" 11. "Borrowed Tune"
Damn, even tougher record to rank then Entertainment!, which I did previously. The only thing that even approaches a bust on here is "Borrowed Tune", which I still like.

Chill Out Tent 7. You Can Make Him Like You 8. Citrus 9. Hot Soft Light 10. Arms and Hearts 11. Party Pit 12. Same Kooks 13. South Town Girls of course every single song on the album is great so it is impossible to put these in a real order from best to worst, but that was my shot.
Just got done listening to this album for the first time in a couple months. I would move Citrus up to 3, You Can Make Him Love You to 5, and put Kooks last. I haven't heard the bonus tracks, so scratch those.
1. Novacane 2. Hotwax 3. Jack-Ass 4. Where It's At 5. Lord Only Knows 6. Devil's Haircut 7. Readymade 8. High 5 (Rock the Catskills) 9. New Pollution 10. Sissyneck 11. Ramshackle 12. Derelect 13. Minus
It feels futile and blasphemous to 'rank' perfection, but I feel compelled to spread some awareness. So much has already been said about the importance of this album and its greatness has already been adequately extolled, so I'll just get to it:
London Calling
(rank) "song" (track #)
1. Lost in the Supermarket (8) 2. London Calling (1) 3. Hateful (4) 4. Jimmy Jazz (3) 5. Clampdown (9) 6. Wrong 'Em Boyo (11) 7. Brand New Cadillac (2) 8. Rudie Can't Fail (5) 9. Train in Vain (Stand by Me) (19) 10. The Guns of Brixton (10) 11. The Card Cheat (14) 12. Koka Kola (13) 13. Death or Glory (12) 14. I'm Not Down (17) 15. Spanish Bombs (6) 16. The Right Profile (7) 17. Revolution Rock (18) 18. Lover's Rock (15) 19. Four Horsemen (16)
Actually, the ordering on the 'records' is more fitting and has a better flow than going through the album by my rank. Popular opinion has the second (11-19) of this double album lesser in quality to the first, and my ordering seems to echo the suggestion (only changed out two on the 'first' LP, replacing one with the infamous hidden track hit). However, I think musically the second set of songs are nearly as strong quality wise, just overshadowed by some of the justifiable mega hits of the first. Even the track(s) I consider to be the weakest, "Lover's Rock" and "Four Horseman" are still infectious and amusing listens, despite their flaws.
As for my number 1, I don't think pop gets any better than "Lost in the Supermarket", my all time favorite song. It's musically and lyrically straightforward but deeply profound in describing modern man's alienation and identity crisis in a materialized society. These themes show up a lot on the album, but there is something unique about the style and up beat delivery of the song that make it unforgettable.

Interest ranking, Pixies. I agree with a lot of your list. I'd probably move "I'm Not Down" and "Spanish Bombs" up, and swap "Rudie Can't Fail" and "Train In Vain" with "Clampdown" and "Wrong 'Em Boyo".
You're right though, it's hard to rank perfection.
