quote: Actually, if we view The Final Cut as the first Roger Waters solo album it kind of is, then he get's about two-thirds of a good string there along with the underrated Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Radio KAOS, though? Man oh man, what a mess. Radio K.A.O.S. was the first Waters album that I heard and I can stomach it; with the emphasis on stomach. I'll usually only listen to tracks 1,2,3, & 6. The rest are nonsense. Amused to Death, on the other hand, is worse than psychological warfare. After hearing that album, I stopped hoping that the Floyd would reunite. In regards to The Final Cut being considered a solo effort for Waters, I can see the reasoning, yet still associate it more with Floyd. Every track is brilliant and extremely important, including the oft-slandered "Not Now John". It makes my day when I find a fellow fan of the album. There is nothing wrong with people who don't see it my way, but there is definitely something right with those who get it. Dear ericg75, I've noticed that you and I have been on opposite sides of the "Mason-Dixon Line of Metacritic Opinions" lately. I respect your opinions and figured that I'd let you know that I always consider your arguments as valid points when assessing the overall content of the discussion. (Although the absurd comment hit a little close to home). You're definitely good people in my book. Sincerely, P-Bo

Why stop there? On the Beach, Tonight's the Night, ZumaComes a Time, Rust Never Sleeps, Live RustHe had a couple of twofers later on, but three trilogies of great albums in one career is good enough for me.

im not sure how well this will be recieved but I would consider the following to be one hell of a string.. Lightning Bolt - Ride the Skies, Wonderful Rainbow and Hypermagic Mountain the more I listen to these albums, the better they are. I've recently began to picture huge mythological beasts talking to one another when listening to Wonderful Rainbow. Has anybody seen these guys live? jesssuss..

I haven't yet heard 'Face to Face' or 'Lola vs...' but from what I understand they could be added at the ends.
Nothing can compare with the Beatles from "Rubber Soul" to "Abbey Road", considering the quantity of music, the consistent brilliance of the songwriting, and the innovation contained in each record. Dylan's "Freewheelin'" to "John Wesley Harding" stretch is pretty unbelieveable too.
I'm just really starting to listen to Willie Nelson, but it seems he has a pretty oustanding stretch from the early-mid seventies.

Rubber Soul was where I first started playing Beatles albums ten times a day, but once I got the U.K. version of Help!, I realized that was just as good.

I almost included Help! in that string as well. I'd go all the way back to With the Beatles, but I'm just not sure Beatles for Sale stacks up with the masterpieces. Honestly though, I'd probably give everything from Please Please Me to Let it Be 5-stars without hesitation, with the possible exception of "BFS"... Yellow Submarine doesn't count, right?

"No Reply" and "I'm a Loser" are a terrific one-two punch. "Eight Days a Week" is incomparable.

Agreed about the opening 1-2 punch. The bass line in "I'm a Loser" is awesome. I also really like "Baby's in Black", especially the harmonies in the bridge section. However, after that, Beatles for Sale does little for me (comparably). I'm not even a big fan of "Eight Days a Week".
