I was going to mention them among underrated artists because they certainly never enjoyed critical success to match their airplay and sales, which is a shame. They were terrific.

I've tried to deny this a number of times, his. I've just given up. It's a helluva song and a helluva hook.

I think this might qualify, as I know it isn't popular with my friends. I own a Yanni CD, and I actually listen to it sometimes.

I kinda dig Rick Springfield. Maybe not all of his stuff, but "Jessie's Girl", "I've Done Everything for You", and "Love Somebody" are all pretty damn catchy.

Rhapsody. They have had the cheesiest lyrics of any band ever since they started recording eight years ago but their musicianship is amazing. I listen very infrequently, but I still listen.

There are not many genres I Don't listen to...I would have to say that the guiltiest pleasure on my iPod are...

1. Galang - M.I.A: These are probably some of the lyrics in all history, but the song is so Damn infectious...

2. Gwen Stefani - I consider it a blow to my manhood that I have Love, Angel, Music, Baby..
but, I really love the tracks with Andre 3000

3. Elton John - Bennie and The Jets: One of the best rock songs of all time....

4. Ludacris - Red Light District Album: In my opinion there are only a handful of good rap artists out there (Kanye West, Common, Outkast, Madvillain) and some may not think that luda is on that list including me, but I love that album.

5. The "O Brother Where Art Thou" Soundtrack:
The only bluegrass I can Tolerate. Great tracks by Alison Kraus...One of the best movie soundtracks ever...

I don't feel any guilt for liking Steppenwolf. After the Beatles broke up, they were just about my favorite band in high school, along with Zeppelin and Grand Funk.

Yeah, Steppenwolf is awesome. Born to be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride, can't argue with that.

Don't feel guilty about early Elton John. He didn't start sucking until about 1980. I believe that's when he and Phil Collins waged a battle to see who could sink further into crappiness.

May I paraphrase that to "Who can get richer"?

It is possible to be rich and not totally suck. Phil Collins and Elton John go out of their way to make horrid music. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are undoubtedly loaded, but at least they're still somewhat cool. Even though I'm not a big fan of much of the Stones' stuff after "Tattoo You", they're not totally crappy, and at least they're not putting all their effort into Disney soundtracks, which imho is about the least rock n' roll thing you can do (take note Sting)....but I think we're getting off topic.

Well, probably my biggest "guilty pleasure" right now is Cam'ron's Purple Haze album, and also anything else by him or The Diplomats I happen to enjoy. Cam is mostly a fairly good rapper with some amazing runs of addmittedly often semi-incomprehensible rhymes built off of thrown-together free-associative non-sequitors, although he also has his share of mediocre moments. The subject matter of course is degenerate even fed through the surrealist delivery. Lots of the other Diplomats are mediocre to fairly awful, but I think they have some of the best production in mainstream rap. Overall, a comp of their greatest would probably rate an A-, but anyway...

Are you seriously telling me that YOU feel GUILTY whenever YOU hear those early '80s NUGGETS? No way! Did I already welcome you? Doesn't matter; post away, "guilty" or not!

Nothing to feel guilty or rediculous about isidp. Those are all pretty much classic songs. You look like you raided my iTunes library. "Just What I Needed" is one of my all time favorite songs.

It seems like a lot of people in this thread are posting albums and songs that are generally regarded as good. Somebody post some real crap in here. It's like me saying I'm embarrassed about having "Kid A" or "Highway 61 Revisited" in my collection.
