Sufjan wishes he could write a song with the lasting power of "Sonic Reducer"?

This is also true. What I had in mind was they both had songs about serial killers- "Son of Sam" and "John Wayne Gacy, Jr.".

That was a tough one, I spent a good amount of time trying to figure it out. Do you have another?

How many ways can you link any of the following?

Grant Lee Phillips, E, Jon Brion, and Peter Buck. I'd say 12 should be the absolute minimum, but knock yourself out if you want because there are a lot more.

That's an incestuous group of people Mark, if you add Scott McCaughey to that list you could darn near link these guys to anyone who ever recorded a note!

Here are ten links:

1. Grant Lee Phillips covered REM's "So. Central Rain"
2. Jon Brion and E both guest GLB's Jubilee
3. Peter Buck and Grant Lee were on the Eels' Daisies of the Galaxy
4. Jon Brion guests on GLP's Virginia Creeper
5. Jon Brion was on the Eels Beautiful Freak and Electro Shock Blues
6. Peter Buck played on the Eels' Blinking Lights and Other Revelations and co-wrote "To Lick Your Boots" with E
7. Peter Buck played on GLP's Strangelet
8. Jon Brion and E were both on a Hollies tribute album.
9. GLP played on the Eels' Electro-Shock Blues
10. Peter Buck, GLP and E were all on Robyn Hitchcock's Jewels' for Sophia (Jon Brion and GLP were also on his Robyn Sings and A Star For Bram)

Okay besides the obvious fact that both of these two groups released albums on Matador what else links:

The San Francisco Seals

AND

Yo La Tengo

Hint: Think band name derivation.

Look, I'm going to push in here, seeing as this has been stagnant for a while. I hope MJ'll forgive me. I'm crap at this game and can never think of songs that have got a connection - until today.

"Back In The USSR" - The Beatles

"Montego Bay" - Bobby Bloom

I'm not familiar with Bobby Bloom, but by the title I'll take a stab and say they are both Beach Boys parodies.

BTW, we established that you may use outside sources to figure out the connection. Some of these are downright tricky.

The answer to YLT and SFS is that both names are derived from baseball.

They're both songs about guys who can't wait to get back home, to the greatest place on Earth, etc.

BOAC - British Overseas Airwaves Corporation

Airline used by characters in both songs.

What links:

Richard Hell & the Voidoid's Blank Generation

and

Lou Reed's The Blue Mask

and

Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend

Hing: One musician plays on all three of these seminal records.
