BContrat, is that your list or Pitchfork's? If I remember correctly, your list is just about identical to PF's, especially towards the top. I'm not trying to rip on you or anything, just noting the stunning similarity.

Ah thanks to some of you guys for reminding me of some other ones i missed! Definately the soft bulletin belongs in there and siamese dream was something i listened to all the time back in the day. I also only put in one band each per album, so therefore neglecting the bends, this is hardcore, the blue album, which are all still great albums. Oh and ben folds five - ever and ever amen

In my defense, I did not include Tori Amos in my top ten. Big Grin And yea, they have the same albums in their top 3, but I guess I just really agree with it then.

Ooooh! The 90's are it for me musically. I was a kid then, so everything from that time has a really magical kind of glow to it.

Blind Melon- Nico

Shihad - Churn.
Shihad - Killjoy.
Shihad - S/T.
Shihad - The General Electric.
Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs.

... OK, maybe I'm a tad obsessed with Shihad, but who else is going to spread the WORDage? The fact remains that even their worst songs (as Shihad, not Pacifier) could beat the pants off of many of today's popular mainstream bands.

My Top 10 (I listened to almost none of these during the actual 90s). Some artists I had to list more than one album for, but I put my personal favorite first, and you can count that as the one on the list to make it a true 10. I'm pretty sure it's a list only I would make.

1.Mr. Bungle-- California, Mr. Bungle
2.Sonic Youth-- Goo, Dirty, Washing Machine, Daydream Nation, Experimental Trash...
3.Primus-- The Brown Album
4.Radiohead-- OK Computer
5.DJ Q-Bert-- Wave Twisters
6.Fugazi-- Red Medicine
7.Portishead-- Portishead (I am surprised how many people prefer Dummy-- to me, their second, self-titled album is far more interesting)
8.The Flaming Lips-- The Soft Bulletin, Clouds Taste Metallic
9.The Magnetic Fields-- 69 Love Songs
10.Madonna-- The Immaculate Collection (admittedly a cheat, since it was neither a real album nor was it recorded in the 90s, but it was released in 1990, damnit!)

And two that deserve mention, that I definitely listened to in the 90s:
Ace of Base-- The Sign
No Doubt-- Tragic Kingdom

Really? I wouldn't even say that is the best Mr. Bungle album of the 90's (the first one being my choice). And I'm surprised a Bungle fan wouldn't put Angel Dust in his top 10 list. Different strokes...
