Seeing as there is already a thread for my topic thought i would add to this one rather than start a new one.

Basically i am doing a poll of people's top 50 albums of the 90s (including various music magazines' lists). No live albums (so no Nirvana unplugged, best of, compilations or soundtracks etc, however The Three EPs by the Beta Band is allowed. The list needs to be in order from 1-50 (and has to be 50 albums, no more or less). I realise this is quite a task to undertake, and i realise some of you will already have done a top ten here, but anyone who wants to contribute their 50 is welcome, the deadline for lists is end of the month. Anyone who posts a top 50 before then will be included. I will put the results up once it has all been calculated.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to have a go at this

Thanks for the explanation Tony. That's much more honest (and likely to get responses) then the usual "I'm writing a paper blah blah blah" that we typically get.

I can't say that I could even pull together 50 albums from the 90s that I could vote for in confidence. It's kinda my least favorite decade for music. Perhaps I just haven't explored it enough.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

Looking over these lists just makes me think one thing over and over...

The 90s is virtually unchallengable as the weakest decade in Rock n' Roll History...80s wasn't that strong either from an album standpoint...but made up for it with a gazillion fantastic one hit wonder singles.

Oughts has been so much better.

Ok, well, see, there certainly have been some great albums this decade. But I would actually say the 90s is one of the strongest decades overall. The bulk of my favorite albums of all time, I think, come from the 90s and the late 70s.

EDIT: I'll post a list later.

Good man. I don't know why I randomly deleted like half of those, they are all top notch in my book. Except for Bjork, but I can tell you really like your bjork so I'll leave it at that. Perhaps it's that I just agree with your placement or preferences on those over the artist's other albums, like "There's Nothing Wrong with Love" over "Keep it Like a Secret" (it's a tough choice, but I agree with you, tnwl takes it with a slight edge because 'car' Smiler) and Odelay over Mutations.
