List what you think are the best artists or bands whose music is mostly uplifting and positive. Some obvious examples would be: Bob Marley and the Beatles.

They're not my favorite band, or anything, but you can't get more uplifting than the Polyphonic Spree. They're so freaking uplifting it makes my teeth hurt.

I'm going to have to say the entire album is. Some songs are slower, sure, but I think the whole thing is positive and fun.

The Polyphonic Spree take me to a bad place inside. They're depressing...

Yeah. Right. Depressing, of course. But uplifting, too.

They wear robes....

For good time, party rock & roll it's hard to look past the Rolling Stones and you'd have to be a zombie if at least 1 Queen song hasn't made you smile. Of todays bands Arcade Fire make the most glorious noise.

I'm not so sure Arcade Fire could be said to be positive. Uplifting, yes, but their music seems to come from a darker place. Any other opinions on this?

Agreed. Their music is very anthemic, there's no questioning that, but I wouldn't say it's positive. Much of their music does, as you've hinted at, seem to originate from something "darker," whether it be discontent, anger, sadness, etc.

On the majority I would have to agree, but Pet Sounds has some pretty depressing undertones...

The Flaming Lips always bring a smile to my face. Even when there songs deal with heavy themes they always have a positive vibe and make me happy.

Explore their back-catalogue a bit... if that makes you happy too, you're strange. Good stuff, but too abrasive and out-right weird to get a smile out of me.
