Iceland is probably one of the last places you would think of when it comes to really good film making, but you'd be surprised.

Some Icelandic films I would highly recommend:

Noi the Albino (2002)
Angels of the Universe (2000)
The Icelandic Dream (2000)

These are just some that I have seen and really liked. More info on these and other Icelandic films can be found at http://www.icelandicfilmcentre.is

Has anyone seen any of these? If so what did you think of them?

Any other recommendations?

I just watched Beowulf and Grendel and it was filmed entirely in Iceland. The movie was a bit too gory for my taste, however, the landscape was captivating!

I highly recommend I Am Dina. Filmed in Norway (sorry, but for an ignorant American, aren't they the same?) this movie is beautiful. Excellent character development, breath-taking scenery, horror, etc. This is as close to life as you can get without hitting the more subtle asian films.
