The first time I saw this movie, I admit I was more befuddled than dazzled.
I came across Sergei Paradjanov's Color Of Pomegranates almost 2 years ago in my University library. After some preliminary reading, I set to watch the movie. I hear it is loosely based on the life of the poet Sayat-Nova. Anyways, though the movie had some stunning visuals, almost like still life paintings juxtaposed one after the other, I really could not "get" the film. The movie came to mind today...and I wonder if anyone has seen Paradjanov's movies before and "understood" it. If so, please tell me what I am missing. I would love to be able to appreciate the movie...also useful would be some references/ material on the internet or otherwise talking about his style, movies etc...Sometimes a little bit of learning goes a long way!!
