This film has got to be one of the greatest films ever made. There is very little wrong with this film, it creates tension, suspense, action, comedy, and love to name a few, all while maintaining its "revenge thriller" status!

The use of CGI is down to perfection, from the simple act of creating a giant ant to the complex task of having a knife in someone's back for a sustained period of the greatest action shot ever filmed!

This film is without a doubt the film of 2003/2005 depending on which country you are in!

To be honest the only film that really challenges 'Oldboy' to the best film of the new millennium is 'Cidade De Deus'.

Unbelievable, a must see film!

Oldboy was pretty good, although it didn't live up to my expectations personally. It was certainly no Ichi The Killer!

I agree that 'Ichi the Killer' was a great film, but it lacked a lot of what 'Oldboy' had...a trueley loveable character that you wanted good to happen to. Ichi was whiney, although he had many reasons for this, and it was part of his character, it did mean that i just didnt care what happened to him. What they wanted to portray could have been successfully done without the whineyness but instead with timidness!

I really enjoyed "Oldboy", I've been meaning to watch it again soon. Does anyone know if it's true that an American studio is going to film a version of "Oldboy" starring Nicolas Cage? Or maybe something thinly based on "Oldboy" when it hits the theatres.

it is true (much to my dismay) that it has been announced and is said to come out late 2006 however there has been no cast rumours to my knowledge Smiler

I just watched this and I really liked the direction and editing. I am kind of bummed though because I pretty much figured it out before the big reveal. Oh well, good flick.

It's been emotional.

Outside of the restaurant scene which days later still makes me ill, I dug Oldboy. Actually there are several images and plot elements from the film I'd like a hypnotist to help me forget.

I thought Oldboy was okay, but am I the only person who found the twist ending a little far-fetched and convoluted? It was almost like something out of a James Bond movie, where the villian goes to rediculously over-complicated lengths to get revenge.

Plus, I don't think I'll be going out for sushi anytime after wathing this movie. The restaurant scene was one of the grossest things I've seen in a movie since Harvey Keitel's nude scene in The Piano.

I don't dig the Stripes, but I'll go for Har Mar.

No, you're not the only person. I really enjoyed the 1st hour, but after that I'm afraid I was more incredulous than emotionally overwhelmed. It's an interesting film without a doubt, but not the classic geeky bandwagoners like Quentin Tarantino would have you believe. Worth a look all the same though...
