Well it had to happen sometime. Ghost Rider is the first movie I have ever walked out of in the movie theater. I couldn't take it anymore. It must have been the cheeziest beginning of a movie I've ever seen. I felt bad for Nicholas Cage, I like him, but Ghost Rider? Believe me, I didn't want to see this, but my friends and I pulled a "Ferris Bueler" day from school. They wanted to go to it so I said fine, knowing it had horrible reviews and it just looked bad. 20 minutes into the movie, we walked out, part laughing at the stupidity of the movie, and part pissed off that we paid for it. Fortunatly, Norbit was just starting, another sh*ty movie, but at least it was a little funny. So we snuck into Norbit and well, thats my story.

If anyone else saw Ghost Rider, what did you think?

Let me get this straight, you walked out before he even changed into Ghost Rider? I really don't know what to tell ya, because I'm not sure what you expected. The first 30 minutes to an hour of any movie such as this is "origin time". Being a comic book fan, this was one movie I had looked forward to since I had heard it was in production. The origin was correct, unlike in other comic-based movies, they didn't change it in any way.

I don't understand why people go to see a movie only to talk trash on it. Your friends couldn't have wanted to see it as badly as you say, if they were willing to walk out of it before he made his transformation. The critics that are talking crap on it, wouldn't have liked it no matter what. I've been to see it twice & both times the theater was full & not one person got up & walked out.

They followed the comic very well. From his "Penance Stare" to his "Mystical Chain" that changes length to however long it needs to be. Ghost Rider looked wonderful. The transformation sequence of his first change was better than I had imagined. The effects were fantastic & I don't see how people claim they looked awful. Sure there are a few moments you could tell they were computer generated but, name one movie where you can't tell something was CG. Even Jurassic Park's dinos & Gollem looked fake at times. You probably have no idea what I'm talking about anyway since you didn't see any of the effects that I have spoken of.

I wish I knew what you meant by "cheesy". What? The father having lung cancer was "cheezy"? Or was it Johnny selling his soul to save him? Was it the stunts he performed? You hadn't seen enough of it to say the effects were cheezy. I don't get it. If you are going to critisize a movie, you really ought to see it first.

I'm not even a comic book fan and had never heard of Ghost Rider before I saw it with two people who had. I loved it. I thought it was well made and had just the right balance of darkness and light. I probably would have gotten more from it had I been familiar with the comic book, but still, I thought it was a fun, fun movie. I really liked it.

I didn't love it. Like you, it wasn't my idea to see it. I figured "hey, some good action and I kinda like Nicholas Cage." I didn't walk out, but about when I saw the league of demons I stopped enjoying it. The fights and driving scenes were ok, but the first change effects weren't too amazing, I'm sorry. Also, Donal Logue (spelling) and Eva Mendes were pretty annoying.

To Monkey_boy: Keep in mind I saw this the same weekend I saw The Departed, Babel, and Last King of Scotland. Maybe if i saw it after a Wayans brothers film I'd be standing up and applauding.

I thought Ghost Rider was just absolutely horrible. Cage and Mendez had no chemistry, with Mendez acting laughable especially trying when tying to look like a damsel in distress or when pretending to care about Cage when he was being beaten by the all so retarded Son of Devil.

Speaking of the Devil's Son, he was so cheesy!! It's the Devil's son and yet he acts so (no offense, but in the moment) Gay!! Also, the dialogue has no depth to it, rather just some pretentious cool one-liners that's worse than the comic dialouge of 300!! (Even though I accept it because the movie's main purpose was meant to uplift)

The action of the movie was horrendous. Cage just beats the villain with a couple whips of his fiery chain. The CGI was pretty bad as well, especially in the scene when him and the former Ghost Rider were riding together in this all over-the-top showy scene with some cheap music in the background,...and then the former Ghost Rider just leaves!! Scene was absolutely pointless.

Movie is like Wild Wild West: trying to be goofy but falls flatheaded, NO SUBSTANCE whatsoever. Nothing in the movie made it stand out from other comic adaptations or an action flick.

I wouldn't say he's a terrible actor, he's just been in some awful movies lately.

Examples:
The Wicker Man
*see title of post*
Next (awful-looking at least)

Looking back before these, I think he was excellent in Adaptation and World Trade Center, which was probably the least Nic Cage-ish performance he's ever done.

Oh, gosh, I've walked out of far worse. (But to admit to walking out of GHOST RIDER in order to sneak into NORBIT ... well, I'll leave that alone.) I finally saw it (GHOST RIDER) on DVD, and I was confused as to how this was even considered a modest hit. I think it quite possibly had everything I hate to see in a comic book movie gone bad, but there have still been far worse films.

It's not as great with repeated viewings, but I do get a kick outta it when Ghost Rider's on the screen! In the sequel we won't have to deal with a love story. So there's a bonus!

The main problem with this movie is the studio's hand was all over it. Just like with "Daredevil". The director didn't want the love story, just as he didn't want it in that one, either. I would love to see a movie from him where the studio has no say in it, just to see what he would churn out. His version of "Daredevil" was head & shoulders above the theatrical release.

*yawn* I didn't like Ghost Rider, either. I watched the entire thing but it had to be the longest hours of my life.
