Lol Smiler yes but I didn’t come to this thread to argue about it, I merely came to state what I felt was the worst film I saw this year, besides, you and me have already touched on this argument of Spiderman 3 Tabuno, and I respect your opinion of the film. I’m not saying its crap, it was just the film I liked least out of all the films I saw this year.

I must say that it's a good idea to read the title of the discussion forum. You made me re-read the title of this forum.

I haven't seen Spiderman 3 and I still say it's the worst movie of the year, based on the preview alone. The special effects are grotesque, considering how much money went into that behemoth. And the story... well, I think I'll just end with this:
Can there be no good comic book/movie franchise, other than Batman (excluding Forever and Batman and Robin, of course)?!! I ask you!!!

Basing a movie evaluation on the strength of a trailer isn't a sure bet. The only time I've seen a trailer and had the same feeling as this post was with Gladiator (2000) when I saw the artificial lion in the coliseum and saw the movie and really didn't like it.

I can't agree with you that Enchanted is the worst movie I've seen this year. If you only saw ten or less movies perhaps. I was really touched by Amy Adams' Giselle being lost in New York sequence, it was one of the best innocent lost emotionally riveting sequences I've seen. It's a fairy tale brought to life. I won't say it's among the best movies of the year, but I personally wouldn't say it was the worst. Even Amy received a Golden Globe nomination as best actress in a musical or comedy for her performance.

I can now revise my Worst List:

1. Evening
2. Air Guitar Nation
3. 28 Weeks Later
4. Paprika
5. Waitress
6. Live Free or Die Hard
7. There Will Be Blood

I expect my last selection will create some controversy. Nevertheless, if anyone disagrees with that pick, I hope they'll have seen the film first. I was REALLY looking forward to this film, and thought I would love it, so the whole film was a huge disappointment, especially the last 30 minutes or so.

Your list is intriguing. Not any of the movies you listed do I put on my worst list. Based on your list I can't really determine much in the way of commonalities as to why any of these films would be that bad. What is it that you don't want to experience with this movies? The fascinating opposite is also true, after looking at your best movies, none of them are on my list either. You really must have a different perspective in when it comes to movies.

tabuno,

Yes, if our lists are so divergent, then our tastes are obviously very different.

I forgot to mention that on my "Worst List," I'm not including really bad films like "Good Luck Chuck" because I just am not going to waste my time seeing films that have been universally panned.

Balls. Of. Fury. I'd actually rather sit through "Dragon Wars" again!

Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

That's why I hadn't seen it! Last night really sucked for me! My sister brung it over after renting it from McDonald's. I couldn't even finish it. However, the only other choice was "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" which my neice was watching in the living room. GOOD GRAVY! WAS THAT AWFUL! Mad So... first her husband makes me sit through "Ultraviolet" (a worst for '06), then she brings over "Balls of Fury" (a worst of '07) and their daughter is watching "Confessions of a Teenage Mind" (a worst of '04)... and they all 3 panned "The Warriors"! All taste seems to has gone out the window with that friggin' family! Razzer

Oddly enough, I just saw this movie on DVD this past week and I have to say it was really tough watching this movie all the way through. If it weren't for the fact that I enjoy table tennis, I don't think I would have been able to sit through it.

Alvin and the Chipmunks (poor screenplay, awful music, predictable, poor yelling of "AL-VIN!!!" lol)
Happily N'Ever After (poor animation, poor character development, very weak plot development, predictable, huge cliche/rip-off on the Shrek formula)
His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass (no defined plot, no progression in the non-existant storyline)

The only reason I saw this film was due to a free screening on campus, and I did not connect with it at all. However, I do love both of those actors and there did seem to be more to that movie than what I appreciated in my first viewing. I will give it a few more tries.

I grew up with Alvin and while I wouldn't say the movie was great, for me it was decent and entertaining. I appreciated that the movie version incorporating two of the most famous of the Chipmunk's musical songs, along with a more contemporary version. Predictability is what this movie was about - it isn't supposed to be a serious, wondering what's going to happen animated feature. The original "Yelling" AL-VIN did have a more special kick to it, but it wasn't bad - it resembled the original television series and LP records (long-playing) that came out. The screenplay was decent for me, I understood what was going on most of the time, the plot was logical and made sense, it followed the predictable lines of discovery, over-reaching, downfall, and redemption - traditional classic stuff.

As for The Golden Compass, while I wouldn't say it was terrible, it was a huge disappointment for me because I had such high expectations of this movie - it was gorgeous...but there was a lot lacking in it. The plot is more convoluted and really is based on a multi-movie plot. There were some nice individual performances but the ensemble failed to come together.

The worst movie of 2007 that I saw (I don't see the so-called bad ones) was 300. The pictures were pretty for the most part, but I just couldn't stand the story. I felt nothing for the characters and wanted the whole thing to end asap.

300, one of the worst films? Yeah, probably. But I would say it was one of the best comedies. The crab hands scene was absolutely hysterical, and I wasn't the only one in the theater laughing. And then the slow motion decapitations... Big Grin
