Also, for StrikerCrash who may wonder why in the hell everyone is ridiculing him for his numerous spelling errors, I'll tell you why. When you make as many errors as you did, it's nearly impossible to even comprehend your posts. Honestly, I can hardly understand your argument because I'm too caught up trying to decipher your language.

It is painfully obvious that you simply run your replies through a spellcheck and rely on that to catch your errors Roll Eyes Maybe you should check your grammar yourself before flaming others, just a thought.

I think I'm safe, though. No, I don't run my posts through spell-checks, but for someone with as tenuous a grasp of the English language as StrikerCrash, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

There's a big, big difference between making one spelling or grammatical error in a paragraph of text and looking like you're trying to rewrite the rules of the English language.

And our big issue was the stupidity of the content of Striker's post, not the presentation (good for a laugh though that was).

It looks like you signed up at the board just for that one bit of self-righteous posturing, so if you're satisfied now, please stop being a nuisance.

First of all, it's pretty sad that (a week later) some of you kept throwing stones at a retreating figure.* More annoying is the fact that many of you were simply regurgitating points that had already been made... repeatedly.

More humorous, I think, is the fact that Nickel-Z is in here, defending his right to mock StrikerCrash. If I remember correctly, this is the same individual who, when notified of his own grammar lapses, plunged into some long-winded, idiotic rant about race.

*And no, it is not lost on me that I'm posting this reply a month after the issue has apparently been laid to rest (but hey, it was still 2nd on the list, and I was intrigued by the title).

The reason that I got involved was because of IPswich, the thread would have been dropped had he not piped in.

Take note that it is second on the list after a month. How long do you think it could have been at the top of the list?

Thanks for the defense, Mike and N-Z.

I freely 'fess up to my spelling errors and mistakes. IPswich caught one. Good for him.

I've never spellchecked or grammar checked a single post since I've been here. My grammar and spelling are good enough that I don't feel the need to run them through a check. If I make a mistake from time to time, so be it. As others have already noted, on my behalf, nobody would have said anything to StrikerCrash if his post contained an error or two. But it was filled with grammar and spelling problems, made all the more hilarious by his claim that Ebert was illiterate. And, as others also pointed out, that the general argument (if there was one) was moronic.

And, unless he's using a totally different computer, IPswich and StrikerCrash are NOT the same person. But both have the same MO...one post, and POOF! Gone with the wind. Probably a good thing for the Forums, I'd say.

It's also pretty sad that you resurrected a thread that's been dead in the water for at least a month and a half just for that. Let it rest, for God's sake!

(On one hand, it's good that you at least made note of this thread's age, but that makes it all the less excusable.)

A-hem!

Edit: Also, has anyone noticed the conspicuousness of the username "IPswi[t]ch"?

Uhh, no. There's a difference. I don't believe much of what I've said has been said by anyone else on this thread. By your reasoning, I could blame you (and then myself) for building the momentum on a thread that really just needs to die.

Eureka. It's suddenly all so clear.

Thank you! Everyone I know agrees! Ebert's a total moron. His reviews are irrational, ludicrous, and sometimes even lies. I remember him saying that "Gamera: GOTU" was ridiculous because bats don't lay eggs. WTF? What bats?!?! There were no bats throughout the entire movie! Oh wait, did he mean Gayos? He couldn't be, considering it's stated directly in the film that Gayos is a reptile!
That's only one example of his moronic thoughts. Honestly, I have not read one review from him that stated something totally bull. "Gamera: GOTU", "Daredevil", "Ninja Turtles", "Gojira", "Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy", and many more! Everyone here thinks he's an imbecile for good reason.

Wow. It's ironic that you come from the USA. Ya know, where you are allowed to have the freedom of speech? Well apparently, you don't understand the term "freedom of speech". This is a forum, not 1939 Germany.

What does this mean, exactly? Seeing as how you're in Austria, I don't know how much you really know about the U.S. of A. This isn't a communist country. Or are you refering to our apparent "war-mongering" President Wink? I'd say the main difference between Bush & Hitler is Bush isn't trying to wipe an entire race off of the face of the planet just for hate's sake. He's responding to an attack. Don't take this as the start of a political discussion, there's already a thread for that! I think this one has veered off course enough already! Not that the initial post was all that thought out or even spelled correctly Roll Eyes.

As to the topic, I like ol' Ebert. His reviews have had me cracking up. The man does have a sense of humor. Sure, there are some movies he doesn't understand ("The Usual Suspects"), but he knows crap when he sees it ("Resident Evil: Apocalypse" & "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"(2003))! I just wish he would hurry up & get better, already! His website has been neglected for quite some time! You should really checkout his 'Little Movie Glossary', it's great! As to the movie that initially kicked off this thread, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", I thought it was alright. It wasn't the best Science Fiction movie ever made & I've never read the book, so it's not like I was looking for discrepancies. I laughed & my 3 year old son enjoys it enough, so I own it.

"I can't live the buttoned down life like all of you! I want it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles! Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

Try living here. Then you'll know that mindlessly biased statements like that are bullshit. We aren't randomly killing people, we aren't putting Jews in concentration camps, we didn't start the war, we aren't trying to prepare one biasly specific group of people in thoughts of world domination, we aren't communist, and we allow the freedom of speech.

If you think the USA is evil, then go to Iraq and tell me how it is down there, you single-minded moron.
