The indie types will never compare to Victoria's Secret models but part of what makes them attractive is that they're real looking and, more importantly, they are generally talented musicians.
I think it's hard to see what makes these women attractive when they're not performing. It's kind of a cliche that girls are automatically attracted to guys in bands, no matter how bad they look, but I think it kind of applies to dudes to. Chan Marshall working at Steak & Shake: not all that great. Chan Marshall on stage: much more impressive.

I think I'd still find Feist pretty hot, even if she was working at the gas station around the corner from my house.

I'd be eating all my meals at S&S if she worked there.

I think that seeing a girl like Feist at a gas station would draw attention to how good-looking she is, just because she would look out of place. On a college campus? I don't think she'd stick out especially.

Met her recently. Very mysterious girl. You can tell there's a lot going on behind those eyes.

If Chan walked by me on the street, I'd definitely stare.

On stage, she freaks me out. Her mouth twists all funny and I will never, ever be comfortable with what she does with her arms.

Props to whomever mentioned Emiliana Torrini. She's done a lot of behind-the-scenes, ghostwriting stuff and she writes absolutely gorgeous music.

If you put any hot woman in a crowd of other hot women, she probably wouldn't stick out. That doesn't really change the fact that she's hot.

Feist looks too much like my mom. She is wrinkly and looks like my grandmother's foot.

No, I'm serious. If his mom really looks like Feist, I want in. Joji, how would you like a new dad?

It was me.

If you walk down any main street you are likely to walk past at least one attractive person, but people like Chan Marshall and Joanna Newsom also make beautiful music, which makes them that little more special. It's the "whole".

Joanna Newsom could write a million beautiful songs and she would still be the ugliest creature on the planet.
