You've got to keep in mind that once Phair's popularity grew she had the benefit of makeup artists and professional photo shots. Any recent pictures of Phair are suspect to massive preparation and brushing up. After all, they can make this look good with their magic. I can pretty much guarantee that if you put Chan Marshall in Phair's position, she would look fantastic.

I've gotta throw in Murder by Death's Sarah Balliet. Of course, playing the Cello makes her doubly attractive. Probably the most appealing instrument on the planet, aside from maybe the piano.

I agree on Kianna, definitely. I met her at a show TatW played with Rilo Kiley, and I ended up buying their CD because she was so nice and cute. Damn those hormones! Years later I eventually ended up enjoying the album, so it all worked out, I think.

Yeah, I have met them all three times. Jamie remembered me the second time (well, because it was the night following the first meeting), and then the last time I saw them I chatted with Kianna and Neely while they were working their own merch table. Neely is a former flame of Conor Oberst and Conor, Neely, and Jamie were all in a band together in high school called Park Avenue.
