I've noticed that whenever someone posts a band or a new album they released, the very first replies are almost always positive to very positive. They're usually short and succinct and make a point of showing their overwhelming love for the band. Next, we get the "Oh, I think it's good but it's not THAT great" reply with one or two straggler "Hey, this album rocks!" posts. Then Pfork will give it a review that's very good to great (more often than not because it is a very solid album), and then the discussion dissolves into sharp criticism, ire, and emotions bordering on lunatic hatred of the album.
Somewhere around this time the former posters who loved the album will now come back for round 2 to flame the people flaming their band. At this point, the discussion tends to veer off into previously uncharted territory, usually ending up in the most random areas of interest (Input: I dislike the new "Insert Band" album. Output: Jewish people really ARE trying to take over the world). Finally, in a fit of exhaustion after going balls deep for as long as it can into whatever topic is being discussed, the discussion dies down from lack of interest.
Months later, some unfortunate sap will stumble into the discussion, new to the thread and all the emotions wrought upon that particular, sensitive subject. A day will go by. Then a grizzled old veteran of the board will walk slowly by, shake his head in a manner suggesting both reminiscence and regret, and say to the youngster, "Those were different times. Different times, different place. We've come a long way since then. Noob." And then he'll walk off into the sunset, leaving the bewildered but spiritually enlightened young forum member to ponder these cryptic words.
What was the point of this board? We may never know...
*walks off into the sunset*

I'll clarify - it was the funniest thing I've ever read on the metacritic forums. I wonder what benefit you can see in devaluing my personal opinion of Tyler's post. Will I be less likely to heap praise on a fellow forum member? Will Tyler refrain from writing thoughtful, humorous posts?

Claybay, while it was funny, it certainly was not the funniest thing he's ever posted. In fact I'm a big fan of some of his previous posts (have you read his opinion on people who criticize golf? hilarious!). This post just didn't quite live up to some of his other work IMO.

Yes, and they are, in fact, communists. I will now support this fact by calling you a liar and a capitalist pig.
Assmunch. God, I don't know how people can be so stupid, Arctic Monkeys may be good but they are, like, sooooo overrated. You're a jerk just for liking anything associated with them, even though I also like them.
Extraordinary only in the sense that they were extraoridinarily boring. I went to an Arctic Monkeys concert with We Are Scientists opening up for them. In all honesty, the Arctic Monkeys sucked, and We Are Scientists were the star of the show.
