I'm not a big fan of yellowcard in general, however I enjoy some of their songs where the violin is prominent. I have a lot of their songs and I'm wondering if someone out there can recommmend some good violin so i can weed out the other songs that i dont really enjoy so much. thanks

Do you mean you are looking for more Yellowcard songs with violin featured more prominently, or just any song with violin in it? Because if you're looking for Yellowcard songs, then I'm afraid you have the wrong forum.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant but check out the Dirty Three.

They are a trio (who knew?) of violin, guitar, and drums. The violin could be considered the "voice" of the group, and his playing is absolutely yearning in its expressiveness.

In my opinion their best album is "Whatever You Love You Are" so try that one first.

Actually, as much as I hate pop-punk, this new emo/alternative bs, and all that crap, the first Yellowcard album (which tends to feature the most Violin) is pretty good, actually. Really catchy songs that you won't be able to get out of your head for days even with the extremely angst filled lyrics ("And would you tell all your friends/ You've got your gun to my head/ This song is only wishful thinking...")

This is almost eerie. I just had a long discussion about Yellowcard with my girlfriend. They were her favorite band about three years ago. But that's just it, she was 15 then. Now her favorite band is The Unicorns, thank God.
I'm fairly open to changing my mind about these things, I secretly enjoy a few Brand New songs, but Yellowcard's singer poisons everything I've heard by them. With or without prominent violin.

Side note: CouldBAnyone, I'm glad to hear that you enjoy some music. You've been pretty antagonistic lately but that was a lovely post on a thread in which it would be easy to tear into a pop-punker. Smiler

I liked the song "Only One" by Yellowcard my freshman year of high school. The chorus is quite romantic really. I tried to use it to get a cute girl. It didn't almost worked.

I think this guy is just a clever spamster. This thread should be deleted or at the very least moved the hell out of the indie forum.

What thread do you want it in? Rock? Somebody tell me, and I'll move it. We are having a discussion, so I don't plan on deleting it.
