someone told a friend of mine they heard a copy of the new postal service. i told her i hadnt heard anyone talking about it at all and i think her friend was lying.

could i be wrong? has this found its way on the internet already? even without a release date?

Dntel has an album coming out in April that has leaked. I bet the song your friend heard was "from the guy in Postal Service" and not actually Postal Service.

after i put that post out i looked and saw the release date of the cd got pushed back to possibly 2008 now.

It makes me so sad.

"Give Up" is probably one of the best pop albums of the last 10 years.

I remember a great interview with Dan Snaith (of Manitoba...now known as Caribou) where he said the one thing he is trying to do is kill (with his organic, psychedelic electronic sampling) the horrible clicky click boop boop beeps of the Postal Service. If the next album has the same boring stock 909 kicks and 808 claps then I think I'll use the real postal service to letter bomb their recording studio (when I say studio I mean that shitty Casio keyboard+sequencer used to make Give Up) .

I agree. I just went through four threads with CBA bashing different bands.

We may agree when it comes to the Arctic Monkeys, but don't fuck with the Postal Service. Haha...

I'm psyched to see how this album goes, I'm not really expecting much, esp. since I've been let down by almost every major album so far (I tend to get too hyped though...)

Why is it that people get so sensitive when someone bashes a band? It's never really bothered me as long as the person isn't trying to say that someone else is wrong for liking a band. I say as long as you're attacking music and not people, bash away.

Well, it is annoying when someone talks crap in three or four consecutive threads. Why be so negative?

On another note, my previous post was more joking than serious.

I wasn't really talking about you so much, Jglass. There are other people who make bigger deals of it or else just left the board because of negativity.

In a weird way, although I love Give Up, I was kinda hoping they wouldn't make a second album...so they can't screw anything up. Does that make sense?

There's a difference between "I don't like them" and "I will try to kill them if they try to make any more music."

I would love a new album, but Give Up is a singularly great record. I'm not sure any followup could live up to how much I've built the first album up in my mind.

The apprehension you're feeling about a new PS album is actually based on cues from reality. It is well known that the two components of this band phoned their respective contributive halves to the middle of some neutral point in the soil below Antarctica. It was a miracle that it turned out as good as it did, which is to say, very good.

First off, chill the fuck out.

Second, I'm having trouble seeing where they can go with a second album w/o sticking to the same thing they did on the first album. Are the beats going to be more intense? Is it going to be more in depth? Is it still going to maintain the quality or are they going to stuff the album too tight? All the things that have disappointed me about the follow-up albums recently.

And it's not about their reputation getting tarnished, you read that completely wrong. I have a hard time listening to Funeral (which is a HUGE favorite of mine) because I can't get Neon Bible out of my head. I'm talking about the album tarnishing the view I have on the band, influencing my listening experience. I don't know about the rest of you, but a song I really really can't stand can totally change my view on an album and the same goes for album--> band.
