I love this entire album to death, but I must say, my single favorite moment is about 3:30 into "Finer Feelings" when the poppy guitar melody comes back and Britt quietly sings "doo doo doo..."

Man oh man, I love that.

My favorite track until now is theghostofyoulingers. After reading a lot of comments about Spoon records, i feel like i don't have the choice but to listen to their older stuff.

If you haven't heard Spoon older stuff, yes, you must hear it. If you like Ga5, and "The Ghost Of You Lingers", I would probably start with Kill The Moonlight, which is the most similar.

Kill the Moonlight, Gimme Fiction, and Girls Can Tell are all superb albums, up among the best of the decade.

I agree heartily. And if you still are hungry for more Spoon head over to a "Series of Sneaks", which is also an excellent collection of songs, but is more sporatic.

They have yet to eclipse this perfect record.

I don't know Max, I know you think that's their best album and all but I disagree. I think it was a huge step forward, a clear progression from their previous stuff. They have never regressed from that album but I do think that their later albums are a bit better than A Series of Sneaks. I am not saying that you are so wrong or anything like that. But if I had to pick a favorite album, it would be Gimme Fiction or Girls Can Tell.

I think someone mentioned above (or maybe it was in another thread) the way one views an album has much to do to the circumstances surrounding one's encounter with said album. Series was my intro to the band, and it will always have a special place in my rock pantheon. Oh and it's also the best-- just compare P4K's reviews Wink

But this is a gagagagaga thread, and with regards to that album, I've listened to it another five or so times this week and it I think it may be at the very top of my 07 list, depends on how well In Rainbows ages.

That's, by far, my favorite track on the album.

Seriously, someone should retitle this the Spoon thread. And get rid of that "Overrated Spoon" thread.

Spoon is one of the few bands left on the list of bands that can seemingly do no wrong. They have not disappointed me yet in the least. And I really needed this after the Wilco record this year.

Love love love Girls Can Tell, Kill The Moonlight, Gimme Fiction, and now Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. My favorite tracks are The Ghost Of You Lingers and Finer Feelings and Black Like Me. The only misstep I think is maybe My Little Japanese Cigarette Case.

Such a great band.

I think it's one of my favorite songs of that record.

Does anyone bought the special edition with 20 or so extra minutes? Are that songs good?

No.

Personally I wasn't all that impressed with them. They are just some really short (1:30 average) studio noodling sessions. It's fun to sort of listen to, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay extra for them or I would be disapointed.

If you want to check out the only real song that I can locate on the disk see "I can feel it fade like an AM single" and maybe the demo version of "You Got Yr Cherry Bomb".

They’re all right; if you are a Spoon fanatic then it’s OK to get it. But I think that one only came with the first so many copies of the album. Like Shad said, they are short little snippets, nothing too amazing but still all right.

The extra disc that came with Gimme Fiction is definitely better and that one had a lot less songs but better quality. I think one of the songs that came on that bonus disc was one of MaxJack’s “Top 20 Spoon songs” as well.

I almost metioned that the Gimme Fiction bonus disk was much better as well. Even with just four tracks it's almost as long as the Ga ga ga ga ga disk with twelve tracks. And they are all good. "Carryout Kids" was my theme song for a long time.

Indeed it was, "Sister Jack (Piano Demo)" is sublime and vastly superior to the album version, IMO. As for the the Ga^5 bonus disc, I listened to it once, and I don't think I'll ever feel the need to listen to it again.

I listened to this album for the first time in a while and it jumped about 20 spots up on my list. "Cherry Bomb" is freaking incredible. My two least favorite songs are the first two. After that it's tremendous.
