Mine too. The latter is probably one of my favorite Spoon songs, period.

I have finally succumbed to Spoon. I had never found their past stuff impressive, but (5)Ga is really good. So far, my favorite is "The Underdog".

Gwa. (Gwa gwa gwa gwa gwa) I love this album, but the only thing that keeps me from loving it more are the distortion noises on "Ghost of You Lingers." They annoy the hell out of me!

I loved 'The Ghost of You Lingers' when I first heard it, but then I realized that it didn't fit in with the rest of the songs on the album at all. I can see why they didn't want to throw it out, but it's just too awkward to have been included. It should really have been a B-side. I hate to say it, but I thought I didn't like Ga Ga Etc, but the other day I listened to it in the car and diliberately skipped song 2 the instant it came on, and I ended up really likeing the album a lot more. Listened to it twice through.

You're not alone, according to the man himself, Britt Daniel: quote: That main riff is not just a piano — there’s a lot of instruments in there playing the same chord at the same time. On the demo it was just piano, but when we started doing it we tried it about 15 different ways, pulling different sounds in and out each time. We just kept doing that till we found the way that sounded coolest.
I know it’s not going to be everybody’s favorite song, but it’s probably my favorite song on the record. Not because it’s weird, but because it has the most creepy and most emotional feeling.

And just to clarify, I'm not saying whether or not a love the song. All I'm saying is that the distortion effect is the best reason to.

The song is awesome, but the weird distortion noises make it sound like it's a poorly burned CD. It sounds like a mistake, a fuckup. I just have to get used to it, but it bugs me.

Exactly, I wish the whole album was weird and experimental like this. As it is, I'm left feeling like I was watching a movie, and somewhere in the begining is this really weird scene where everything is black and white and distorted and the characters are all on drugs, and you think, oh man, this movie is going to be so weird. And then they never do anything like it again. And after the credits roll you are like, "Dude, what was up with that weird scene in the beginning? Did you notice how everyone just pretended it never happened for the rest of the movie?" And then you watch the movie again and that scene comes on and you know it's awesome, but it just doesn't fit. And then one day you watch the movie and you fast forward past that one scene and suddenly the movie seems a lot better. That's how I feel. I was also disapointed by the "22 minutes of bonus music" that came with the pre-order, too. I probably shouldn't have been expecting very much, but it's just studio noodling.

I just don't like to think that one of my favorite albums sounds like a poorly burned CD-R, that's all.

A poorly burned CD sounds like it's hicupping. This song sounds like it's getting whiplash.
