On the recommendation of a friend, I've been listening to my old Chavez records again. I recall liking, but not loving, them in the day (a little too math-rock for me at the time) but I'm finding them more enjoyable every listen.

At the Chunklet blog, Henry has posted a nice piece on Chavez as the 90's most underrated indie rock band. He may be onto something. I like these guys more than Pavement.

If you're new to Chavez, check out the new compilation Better Days Will Haunt You, which features prett much their whole catalog on 2 cds and a DVD. Cheap, too.

Goddamnit Chavez was a great band. While I was too young to listen to them when they were around, I have been listening to them for about a year now. Some bands are so criminally underlooked it's ridiculous. I also like these guys more than Pavement (and I'm a pretty big pavement fan). I'm glad they were finally somewhat recognised with the complilation, which I would definetely recommened, especially for it's price.
