Yaaaoooooooaaaaaoooooo (plink plink plink) That's what I was hearing. I'll give it another listen but I was truly unimpressed.
You're funny, but can you actually give a real critique of the album?

No, I can't. I listened to it once and it bored the hell out of me. Like I said, I'll give it another listen soon. All the love for it has really confused me. When there's nothing at all that grabs me about the sound, and certain songs go on for eleven minutes without a single memorable part, I generally can't enjoy it much at all. I'm not saying that every band should have an album full of verse-chorus-verse three-minute power-chord by-the-numbers pop songs, but I generally like my songs to have at least a structure I can latch on to.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

Then it shouldn't be that difficult to understand how people who like Wilco might not like this. I'm not saying that they're incompatible, but crapping on a band to pump up another band ain't cool. Sorry, platypus, but i don't think I like this. I have an aversion to the Panda Monster it seems, but I love it when people find something to love.

Let me see if I can play this game. Animal Collective is beyond boring. They put me to sleep. I moderately enjoyed Sung Tongs, but The rest of their albums are freaking boring. Person Pitch is awful. (I gave Person Pitch another listen. I can see why people like it, but I suppose it's simply not for me. I can't find anything dynamic or interesting about it.)

I hate giving an album perfect marks, but if I did, it would not get close to touching this album. I like Person Pitch, I really do. But this album is nowhere near perfect. It could break my top 20, probably will, but def. not top 10. quote: indie scene propaghanda (Pitchfork) would put it
The funny thing is, most people dislike p4k because they say that p4k is pretentious indie scenesters. But, when you say something like this... well, you come off as a stupid prick. No offense. Just lettin you know.

I'm a pretty big fan of Animal Collective's latest two albums. Tracks like "Purple Bottle", "Grass", "Banshee Beat", "Winters Love", "We Tigers" and plenty of others are easily some of the most exciting, creative, amazing tracks I've heard this decade. With the glowing reviews pouring in over this, I couldn't wait to hear it, and once I did I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I'll keep giving it a chance, but I can't help wondering what I'm missing here.

I dont remember who said it, but Ive listened to it a few times now, Ive enjoyed parts, but I guess its just not for me. As for the wilco comment about it being boring, perhaps that is why I find panda bear not as amusing, a matter of taste really. anywho, grats to all who enjoyed it

Well I'm definitely confused about all this 'lying' or 'not lying' ... but I'm definitely not confused about how much I love Person Pitch! Okay, so maybe it's perhaps not a PERFECT '10' (there are only 3, maybe 4 albums so far this decade that I would bestow that honor upon), but on a P4k scale, I would definitely rank this around a 9.5. I was pretty happy with the P4k review, actually. I find Person Pitch to be utterly enchanting, endlessly repeatable, and just plain wonderful. Not to mention I think his voice (and the way he layers it on top of itself) is stellar. I think the chanting is gorgeous. I find the repetition hypnotizing. There are so many nice, little nuances sprinkled throughout the album that each listen brings something new. It makes for one hell of a headphone album.

It truly is amazing how some people can be so enthralled by an album. Reading how many of you gush over this album, especially Platypus' last post makes me want to listen to it right then and there. I must say that I am in the selective few that don't really like it. I mean it sounds a lot like Animal Collective and neither them nor Panda by himself do much for me. I am not saying this to offend anyone at all, I am also of the opinion that I think it is awesome that you can love something so much, but I do find it boring. Everything that Platypus said he loved: the layering, repetition, chants, the nuances are all things that I don't like. So I don't think this is a "this albums sucks and that's why I dont like it," but rather a "wow, this album has some trippy, new stuff. Not really my style, but if someone else loves it, I can see why" issue. By the way, as for the whole Wilco thing. I love all of Wilco's catalog but don't dig Person Pitch--for whatever it's worth.
----- If you don't love me, I'm sorry.

I think the reason a lot of people have a hard time liking this album is because Noah isn't really structuring his pop melodies around pop song structures. His "songs" are more just repetitious harmonic layers with found sounds lurking under the mix. Since I love textural sound, repetition, loops, music concrete sampling, and vocal harmony this album does everything right. But I can definitely see how a record based off this kind of construction could be strange or boring for some people.

Heh. Well I don't know how Wilco got into the discussion, but personally I think Wilco sounds like sappy adult contemporary garbage and find Person Pitch enjoyable. Not spectacular. I wouldn't consider it experimental or difficult listening or anything. Just atmospheric, lucid pop that I won't mind listening to every now and then.
