You are a fool... Can you explain why don't you like the band? I think labeling them as terrible is a bit harsh, I understand music is subjective but if I don't like a band I try to avoid their thread or give a little insight into why I don't enjoy their music. Maybe you sould do the same.

I saw the "lol" and using "there" rather than "They're", so I automatically didn't take the post too seriously.

And of course, he likes one of their most accessible pop(ish) tracks (not to say that "Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck" is at all terrible). And, from his statement, he most likely is not a fan of noise music (let alone anything hardcore, or probably anything punk for that matter), and probably thinks that any band who screams is "Lame", "Unoriginal", or "Untalented".

if that is the case....

He, of course, couldn't me more wrong. In my opinion, that is... Roll Eyes

noise rock? sonic youth is noise rock. but the blood brothers aren't even music. they just scream. THEY'RE not punk. the ramones are punk, the clash are punk, the blood brothers are far from it. and what exactly do you mean by "of course he likes one of their more poppish tracks"?

I was actually just barely coming around to Young Machetes at total random yesterday before I read the news. Too bad. I love Blood Brothers but I do feel that they were at the end of their creative rope. Hopefully the can salvage something out of their side projects.

And who are you to determine what's punk and what isn't. To quote Kurt Cobain:
"Punk rock means freedom, liking and accepting the things that you like, as long as it's good and has passion." I think that's a pretty fair and broad definition of "punk." Since you brought up the Clash maybe you should read some interviews with Joe Strummer, I'm not even a Clash fan but he was pretty matter-of-fact about not limiting the definition of punk to three chord guitar rock. The Blood Brothers also come from a scene with a rich history that can trace its roots back to Rites of Spring as early as 1985, and groups from the early 90's San Diego scene such as Drive Like Jehu, Swing Kids, Heroin, Angel Hair, Antioch Arrow, etc. All of them were bands trying to break free from the small-minded limitations of punks and hardcore kids by breathing new life into a totally bankrupt genre where many bands sounded identical. Dislike The Blood Brothers all you want, but saying that they can't be "punk" is an easily refuted claim.

At first some people on the sidelines who (probably) didn't give a crap about punk probably said the exact same thing about sonic youth (or DNA, the sex pistols, etc) - "They aren't even music." People have said the same thing to many musicians breaking new ground (or even just seeming to break new ground) over the years. But "This isn't music" is NOT the same thing as "This is really bad music." If you don't like it nobody's forcing you to listen. but flinging poo for no good reason is definitely gonna get you some backlash around here.

But is it sadder than the person who breaks a three year vow of silence for the sole purpose of telling some kid he got "owned"?

All they do is scream? Have you payed any attention to their music? I'm not much of a hardcore fan, but they have some insanely good music backing up all that "screaming". They do hardcore better than any current band I've heard. And yes, they are noise rock.. and don't begin to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and then throw Sonic Youth (who ar great, but got pretty tame pretty quickly) as an example of noise.

You make yourself look more ignorant with every post.
