Merzbear just came in the mail. Not quite as abstract as 1930, is it?

I think it's a little misguided to compare Merzbear to 1930. They aren't approximate to one another in time or sound. Plus, 1930 is generally regarded as one of the best in his enormous catalog. That being said, I think Merzbear is definitely the best record so far in his Merz series. It's nice to hear that pulsating analog synth instead of the laptop stuff that he was doing for a while. Not that I dislike that stuff, I thought Amlux was great. This one definitely isn't his harshest work though.

Well, 1930 sounds very abstract to my ears. Merzbear has these pulsating "beats" that seem to give it some semblance of structure.

So, since starting this thread how's your Merzbow collection looking. I don't know if you have or use Soulseek but I got plenty of the out of print stuff there. You can probably find the entire Merzbox there if you had an infinite amount of time to kill downloading it.

If you don't have Pulse Demon or Rainbow Electronics II, I'd make it your mission to track them down next. Rainbow Electronics II is out of print but you can find it for download and if you're willing to pay the price on eBay you can sometimes find it. I was able to purchase an actual copy of it last year but it cost me about fifty bucks.

Well, I now additionally have Merzbear, Pulse Demon and Tauromachine. I've seen Rainbow Electronics around but not Rainbow Electronics II...is there a significant difference?

What are some of the other out of print selections you have? I do have soulseek, and will use it occasionally.

From my understanding Rainbow Electronics and Rainbow Electronics II are the same record. The main difference being that Rainbow Electronics II is remastered and mixed differently and has different cover art.
