Just some people seem to be getting sick and tired of the Brian Wilson comparisons these days. I mean 90 per cent of experimental pop albums are said by reviewers to have elements of Wilson - even if they obviously don't. However, I can safely say the Guillemots album does have a Wilson vibe and it's all the better for it.

I love "Trains to Brazil", but the rest of the album has clicked yet.

It's a great pop album. Did anyone else pick up the E.P 'From the cliffs'? I definitley reccomend giving it a listen as most of the eight tracks are equal to 'Through the windowpane'. One track in particular 'Over the stairs' is probaly my favourite track from last year.

I'm a big fan of these boys - they've got a great unique sound. "Trains from Brazil" is a fun track, I love "Made Up Love Song #43", and "Little Bear" has some orchestrations that are subtle yet potent. Also, "Blue Would Still Be Blue" is the epitome of a stripped down love song. So simple. As far as their EP, From the Cliffs, I would encourage people to check it out. It has a few of the same tracks, but there are a few worthy tracks that don't appear on Through the Windowpane. I'm just excited by bands like this, and I can't wait to hear their future releases.

I'm pretty addicted to Trains from Brazil, so I'll probably be checking these guys out at some point. My friend had it on a mix and I was like "wow, this is awesome..." It had been iTunes' free track of the day, or something.

I have discovered that this album is probably the most happy and joyous album I've heard in a long time, and it is quite welcome to be so.

If I'd heard this before 2006 ended, it would have given Neko Case a serious run for her money. It really is happy and joyous, and in a genre that can tend towards the somber and depressing, that is wonderful. There are a few things that bug me (for example, their post-rockian tendency to overuse crescendos) but overall I am infatuated with it. The last song alone is enough to put me in a good mood.
