I know there are some Arcade Fire fans out there... and they've got 2 great closers for both albums. But which one's the better song? I know this is a random poll but it's been swimming in my head for some time, after thinkin about it a while, I'm gonna go with "In the Backseat" because it feels more fleshed-out.

I agree. This question is impossible. I love them both so much. It's like trying to decide if Neon Bible or Funeral is better...wait...that's what we're trying to figure out. I'll go with 'Backseat' because it sticks in my head longer. Both phenomenal songs, though.

I would have to go for In The Backseat. I would say that My Body is a Cage is not one of their better songs lyrically. To be honest though as much as i like Neon Bible i reckon in any comparison between tracks (ie best first track, best second track etc) on Neon Bible and Funeral, the Funeral track would win each time (i have not actually checked this out as only thought of it now but im fairly confident). Obviously on that basis My Body Is a Cage would not have an opposite number but i think i am getting myself bogged down now and off the point.

So to cut a long ramble short, In the Backseat is the better track

In The Backseat gets my vote. It's more believably emotional and gives me chills. Not to say that My Body is a Cage doesn't give me chills and isn't emotional, but I've had far more time to get used to Backseat.

I love them both and maintain that this question is definitely not nice. It's even worse because I really discovered Arcade Fire with Neon Bible (though I love both NB and Funeral, as well as their EP).

While I like Neon Bible better than I like Funeral, "In The Backseat" is much better.

Anyways, I prefer any Funeral song to any NB song, so this was easy. In the Backseat vocals haunt me, they send chills through my spine (along with a lot of the rest of the album)

It's a tight race, but it looks like "In The Backseat" is winning by a hair!

Really? I think they both have their fair share of great songs, but I find that Intervention is the best song between them.

Heh don't worry about it; the whole reason I presented this poll is because I was torn myself. The raw tallies are pretty much what I expected, but not much love for "My Body is a Cage" it seems - don't you think that song is much more immediate? It also builds up really nice (well, both do, that's why they're similar)

"Not much love"? 16-14 is the tally. That's a pretty narrow margin! If one person changed their minds, it'd be even at 15-15. A lot of people liked My Body is a Cage. Hell, I liked it, but I just prefer In the Backseat.

Most definitely 'In the Backseat'. The other one is a fine closer for NB, though.

Joined the forums just becuase this question was so entincing (and it was good to break the current tie).

Both songs are great, but "In the Backseat" does it. Factor in that NB is still enjoying the tailend of its honeymoon phase and it's a no-brainer.

BTW Sinister, I meant what people have been posting, not the literal score, barely anyone is mentioning Cage as their #1 but I guess that doesn't matter

Strangely enough, I think both album closers are terrible. I almost always turn Funeral off after Rebellion (lies), and NB off after No Cars Go...

However, if I have to choose one, it would be In The Backseat. My Body is a Cage is almost unlistenable.

And even more strangely, I really enjoy all of the songs leading up to both closers.
