Thank you God Almighty for allowing metacritic.com to share the joy that is Menomena. I had to go through Hell and high water to find this CD, but the chase was well worth it. Now i see that the band is in the top 20 "best reviewed" albums of the year for 2003?? Blessed be. Oh yes, Sufjan Stevens is also great but I'd have to thank Pitchfork for turning me onto him. Toodles!

"Also great"? He's your username Razzer

I'm not quite sure who broke Menomena, actually. They did sort of come out of nowhere. It's a wonderful album.

The singing on "The Late Great Libido" is kinda limp and pussyesque, but I love the sound of the drums on that album.

Agreed. It's one of the best band websites ever, right up there with the weird BoC site with the ballooning, etc (don't really know if it's still up, though, or at that URL) and the new Mum site. This would make a fun topic, actually.

Best wishes,
~V

I saw Menomena open for "the Helio Sequence" (also good- better live than on CD though) up here in the Emerald City last month at NEUMO'S and they rokked the house! I joined their email list after the show and learned that I AM THE FuN BLAME MONSTEr! will be released internationally on September 7. It's about time!

Actually, I believe Pitchfork ran something a few days ago saying that they're getting a real release for it.

I bought the fun blame monster album on the basis of it being mentioned in a 90 Day Men album review on pitchforkmedia. Who incidentally are another great band if you like Menomena :-)
