Being Black myself, I'm not sure it would've sat too well w/ me if the band were all White. Mighta been one of those borderline ironic/"are they being racist?" things. But mere name aside, I listened to one song on Youtube ("Not Gonna Teach..") & was impressed. Looking forward to hearing more. Maybe I'm simply out of the indie loop, but personally, I think it's cool to see faces of color in the genre. I was starting to think there were *practically* none for indie rock.

Lol, yeah. Indie-rock is a pretty "white" enterprise, to say the least. It's actually too white for most white people, to be honest.

Maybe I'll cause a scene here but The Black Kids don't appeal to me (that sounds curiously rascist). The Cure were playing this sort of thing much more effectively 20 years ago.

It seems like the 'next big thing' happens every week in the current climate. Most of the music sounds like rehashed genres that burned out long ago. What is this obsession with the eighties?

Indie is too obvious these days, all carefully studied and packaged to be 'uber-cool'. I loathe the word 'uber' and sadly, I appear to be a grumpy old man.

Sorry blokes but it's not for me.

It would seem so wouldn't it?

Unusually, one of my other recent posts was on the subject of Black metal. It would seem that I'm inadvertently acttracted to threads which bare my second name. It didn't occur to me until you posted on the subject.

Maybe I should change my signature too!

I don't find that funny. It's a total cop out. But it's typical P4K. Inflate the balloon - and then pop it.

I haven't heard the album yet, but I reckon that's a pretty crappy move by fork. A picture following a best new music recommended EP? I'm not sure what they're trying to get at either with the sorry. After all the hype, you've almost gotta feel sorry for this band, this just for making a pop record.

Seriously, that "Sorry" is just obnoxious. I mean, if they're apologizing for every praising the band, they at least owe us an explanation or some type of review. If they're apologizing to the band or to fans of the band if they were expecting a good review, that's the height of arrogance and lack of maturity. Funny? Maybe. Frustrating and immature? Definitely.

Seriously? Are you aware that Led Zeppelin aren't actually zeppelins? That Band of Horses are not extremely talented equines? That Neutral Milk Hotel are not a temporary accomodation for pH-balanced dairy products?

it took me a few listens, but I ended up really liking their ep. Partie Traumatic is so so disappointing though. It is so over produced, and takes away everything likable about the ep. sucks for them to get bad press but seriously that record is terrible.
