Their full-length debut album comes out in 13 days so I was wondering how good it is from the people who've heard the leak.

Also, I used the search function & there were no foals subject titles already.

I've listened to some songs on youtube & really liking "Red Sox Pugie", "Balloons", "Cassius" & "Hummer". Some of it sounds alike but I don't mind it.

Opinions?

I'm all for the Foals, as they rewire my very jaded brain.

Along with Vampire Weekend, they are the best of the new crop.

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been,
Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene;
As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be,
So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

I had this on my best of the year (so far) list earlier on but haven't listened to it since then. I'll have to go back....

They are definitely extremely talented and should be heaped with praise once the album comes out in the states. However, a lot of the songs on the album do hint at other bands, but i'm not the type to care about something like that. I believe it's the eighth song ("Two Steps, Twice", or maybe it's the 9th song, I can't remember now) that sounds a bit like "Did You See The Words" by Animal Collective except, ya know, Foals can play actual instruments rather than just bang drumsticks together and process sound (I love Animal Collective by the way).

Some of it definitely has hints of Devo when they were great ("Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are DEVO!") and i even hear traces of Battles in the finger-tapping guitar-lines (just a hint, though). It's solid stuff, except i may have the leak that has the half-David Sitek (of TVOTR) production, which i read that they scrapped in favor of a different production.

All together, the album is definitely worth checking out, though is seems to me that the album is a little rear-loaded to me (rather than front-loaded), which is actually good considering a ton of albums start well and then drag. Great album, great new band, but i just can't understand them being compared to The Rapture or Bloc Party, because they seem much more three-dimensional than both of them.

Minus the Bear + Arctic Monkeys = FOALS

Like the Clinic post, i feel this band should be getting more attention at the moment. They got a meager review from p4k, which i felt was totally unwarranted. I think Foals may be a little late to the "post-punk revival" game, but this album has enough originality and quirky greatness to keep my attention. I'm listening to it right now as a matter of fact.

that album is definitely a grower.the more i listen it , the more i like it.no bad moments here.the vocals sound like an instrument n fit perfectly with the rythm and the music.
