There's always a few albums every year that absolutely amaze me with the lack of attention they receive. Parc Avenue is one of them for 2008. Anyone else with me on this one?

I've listened to this through a couple times, but am unsure as to how much I like it as yet, however, I do like it. We'll see after some repeated listens.
Yeah, I loved this record. The With/Avec EP was great too. My review hasn't run yet, though, for some reason.

Oops, I didn't know this album had its own thread. I'll delete my posts about Filmore's review in the 'Best of 2008' thread and quote them here:

I'm always disappointed when I read a glowing review of the album which makes it seem as if the album in question will be among the reviewer's top albums of the year and look down to see he's given it a score of 7/10 or something. Haven't read the review yet but will when I get home from work today.

One possible quibble: is that maybe a pedal steel rather than a slide at the beginning of "Faerie Dance"?

Thanks, man. I appreciate it. I really liked the With/Avec EP, and totally fell in love with the full-length when I got it. They're one of the most exciting Canadian bands I've heard since Sloan, to me anyways. I won't be missing them the next time they cone through Vancouver.

Funny, I was just reading this rave review on PopMatters, and I'm thinking to myself, "ooh, I got to rush over to MC and post about this in the P&A thread." And I go to see who the author of the review is...and I had a "doh" moment. Nice review, Filmore! I couldn't agree more your opinion.

Thanks, man. I takes all the praise I can gets. I gave the album another listen last night and I must say I agree with myself. This is a great record. The line "it takes a good friend to say you got your head up your ass" still gets me every time.

Yeesss! That's exactly the same favorite line for me. Are you my doppleganger or something?
