It was the wording of "you metacritic types". It has an inherently bad connotation to it. I may have taken it differently, but you have to admit that it's easy to take it that way.

Oh, I wasn't dismissing his recognition of the band at all. It's bands like these that need to not be so unknown.
To C-Bear (I guess that's what we call you now, haha): I apologize for my cyanide flavoured assault, but as someone who has been educated to see the connotation in words, (Thanks, Writer's Craft) I will politely ask you to carefully word your posts. I say this because I did the same as you, and got what I gave you; an undeserved e-attack based on the simple misunderstanding on the connotation and tone of your statement.
DON'T YOU SEE HOW MUCH TEXT WE'VE WASTED ON THIS LAME ISSUE?
If you wish to see tangents at work, C-Bear, take a look at one of the Pitchfork threads to wish I caused a chocolate related tangent. It was amusing.
I apologize if I gave the wrong impression, but I certainly wasn't trying to be dismissive of anybody. I just meant it as a kind of "you guys", that's all.
And trust me, I'm like about five steps away from being the most utterly unhip person in the world. It ain't an "I'm cooler than you all because I'd heard of these guys three years ago" thing. Very much the opposite, actually: it amazes me, in an "but I'm usually so far off on my own little wacko planet!" kind of way, that a band I've heard of is breaking out all of a sudden.
Bottom line, I'm not a pompous hipster -- I'm much more of a self-deprecating goofball. If that clarifies anything, anyway.
I think what might be happening here is that this music forum has gathered the RAA (as we call them) under it's wing as our own child. We get defensive if someone start saying they are really adopted.
RAA is ours. They can only truely be yours as well if you join us.

Just wanted to thank you for giving a deserving band a hand!
Does this mean our thread is showing up in Google searches of the Rural Alberta Advantage?

the more exposure RAA gets, the better. This is a fantastic album that I could easily have ignored if this board hadn't sold it so much.
I'm not sure if it has a lasting appeal like NMH does - really, what could? - but wow, if this hasn't knocked me on my ass. I really love it, and I really wasn't expecting to.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I don't know how to do one of those cool screen shots, so you'll have to take my word for it.
Neither did RL. Check his screen shot. He just googled it right before taking the shot. I bet if you copy his search word for word you will find out how to do it.
