OK, I guess I misunderstood what you were saying. Apologies.

We tend to get a little sensitive about the "Group Think" accusations that get made on these boards from time to time. Not that group think doesn't happen here. It does. But, I think not as much as some seem to think. After all, these boards have a very independent tilt. People post on these boards because they enjoy music that most people have never heard of. While there may be some "group think", I think there is just as much "contrarian think", if not more. In other words, I think many people dislike music that is popular (even by our indie standards), no matter what the merits of the music. That's why the "over-hyped" threads are always so popular.

I hate the "over-hyped" threads.

Neither does FoT. He's just going along with the current backlash against backlashes.

Forum drama is serious business. Seriously people, if someone likes it then that's great. If someone doesn't then that's fine too. Live with it; not everyone has to fit in your indie bubble of approval. Just because a record is of an unsigned band doesn't make it any better than others, it's just the shame that it's of quality to be a record of a signed band (independant or not).

In other words, you like the record?

It reminds me a bit of last year's Boxer. The drummer for The National could do some stuff that's way beyond what the rest of the band could do, but he reins it in.
------ Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I do like the record. Quite a bit, actually... but all in all I hate it when people can't seem to allow others to like/dislike something, like they have to fit in their own bubble. I also don't like someone giving exposure to an unsigned band being called a "thing". If people taking interest in a recommendation has a negative connotation, then something is wrong.

This album has made it in to my top 5 so I guess that makes me a convert. I actually live in Lethbridge and they do have a Deathbridge

Leaning towards this as a top 5 candidate as well.

Leaning into top 10 for me. It's good. Way to go MC community for force-feeding me this. See assholes (out there)! It does work. Just say fucking "ahhh".

This reminds me why I read these forums. I've finally downloaded this album and agree, it is outstanding. Peering into my top 20, although it will probably just fall short. Who cares about lists though, this album is just another reason I love music.

I may be one of the five people in North America (okay, eight if we include the band themselves) who were actually familiar with these guys before you metacritic types hyped them up. I live about a block away from one of the bars they used to play when they were just getting started (well, okay, it's a donut shop now, but it was a bar at the time.)
Just wanted to thank you for giving a deserving band a hand!

..."Metacritic types..." Wait, what? Bad way to kickstart your way in the forums, mac; the old "I knew this band before you all" comment, laced with some unneeded, venomous comment about the established members.

Welcome craigbear! RS: I didn't take his statement that way at all. I didn't think that "Metacritic types" had any connotation, positive or negative. Just a quirky way of referring to those of us that frequent the boards. He merely said that he's known this band for a while and he thanked us for giving an unknown band some exposure. I thought it was a classy first post. Keep it up c-bear!
